I must just comment, en-route to the end, that this sentence:

and he needs Jayne…well, he don’t, but Jayne seems a dangerous thing to leave lying about unattendend

That's the best sentence ever. And so very Mal! And ... just shiny.

In an apocalyptic way, all of the story is shiny! And I am reading more - I just had to comment on that before I forgot :)

haha--I *love* Jayne, and I meant to make more of him in this story, but it was already too long for the prompt. Somehow, he's yet to get his own story in any of my firefly fics, but he seems to hijack everyone else's. Glad you liked it:)
