Thank you. Shawn's been something of a challenge in this series as I'm trying as best I can (basing him on some guys I know who've been through some somewhat similar experiences) to have him deal with his prejudices. Being forced to change your outlook can be a difficult thing. But I think his innate goodness is coming to the fore. :-)

i feel kind of bad for shawn, only because everyone else is being so awesome about all the touchy boylove and he's just a bit slow to catch up. the kiss between lucic and krejci in this part is GORGEOUS - my own little heart fluttered with want right alongside looch's. ;D nice work, you, to give that thrill to the reader but to stay true to the guys in the story, too. i love the sparks of competition between lucic and krejci, love the vets poking gentle fun at the youngin's. ;D

i'm so psyched there's more, but first, man, let me say again how much i loved that first kiss. GAH.

You know, sometimes when you write, you can't really "see" things very well, it's a struggle to describe them? I "saw" that first kiss as plain as day. Them standing in the water, the water like glass, reflecting the sky, the sound of the drops, the mountains surrounding the lake... I don't think I really succeeded in doing justice to the scene as I pictured it.

As for Shawn, poor guy. I do like the idea of common decency warring with ignorance and homophobia, and decency winning out. (Just a little story - I heard last year that Shawn invited all the younger guys on the team, who didn't have somebody to be with on Thanksgiving, to his home for the holiday. He is a real mensch, that guy.)
