Though I think everyone is pretty happy with the story as is, it makes sense to want to got back and apply all you've learned to the story. It also makes no sense to do it until you've finished. Exactly how it gets to the end can inform what you may want to emphasis or alter at the beginning. I wrote a story where I found out things I did know about the characters until the second to last chapter, when my characters decided to go to a different room than I put in my outline. However, The story is engaging from the beginning as is. I did get the impression you were finding exactly where the story went, but that's the nature of the medium and method. As long as you finish I'll be happy. If it takes you a long time to do it, I'll just gleefully read again.

I want to say that of what I read before, I hadn't forgotten elements of the story so much as forgotten that everything was part of this story. I left off because my brain was juggling too many things to keep much unfinished fanfic in my head. Hope you find time to finish.
