Weekend of running

Jun 08, 2009 08:09

Exciting weekend! I ran 8 miles with Kurt on Saturday (not many walking breaks, and even with those, we were close to a 10 minute mile!), then ran a 5k on Sunday morning (in 26 minutes! Not great for a real runner, but pretty good for me :-) ), then walked a 5k with Geoff, Kael, and our PEPS group. Then I got to actually be helpful for Kurt and ( Read more... )

Show off! (but I like it)

I love taking stuff to the Goodwill! (I suppose I should consider myself lucky to have such a feel good opportunity available to me at any time)

Cheerios-- yuck! I know, I know: they are good for small frys (and they make nice projectiles!)

Show off!

One more reason I'm not a real runner. A real runner would just run for the pleasure, whereas I need the additional bonus of making sure other people know about what I've accomplished :-) And if I were a real runner, I would be doing Ragnar's "intermediate" training. For reference, the previous week's training was 5 miles Mon, 8 Tue, 5 Wed, 9 Thur, 5 Fri, and 3 runs of 5, 5, and 3 miles Sat. Compared to novice training, which Kurt and I are doing, of 3.5 Mon, 5 Wed, 3.5 Fri, and 8 Sat. I can't imagine running 6 days a week for 5 months!

Works for me! I'm pretty lazy and not especially competitive, but there seems to be a tiny little molecule in me that harumphs and says, "If SHE can do it, I can! HA!" I'm not sure this molecule is very bright. But I like hearing what you have accomplished! It makes me happy. I like hearing about people doing worthwhile things with there time, it inspires me! So I will keep sincerely Ooo-ing and Ahh--ing your accomplishments to selfishly keep you posting.

And thanks to you (and Seema's post about Cool Running) I'm almost up to two miles! So, thank you. And I think you are a mighty runner, and you can "fake" being a real runner around me anytime you like. You can brag and boast, and I will make all kinds of appropriate appreciate noises (if you will forgive the analogy) just like Gaston, in Beauty and the Beast, flexing for the Bimbettes. You (and Kurt) have your very own running groupie! (I bet you are just thrilled to know this :)
