Кто-то читая эти записки может подумать что я какой-то там расист или что-то в этом духе. Ни фига подобного. Я вообще интернационалист и за мир во всем мире. Просто мои путешествия как ни странно привели меня к следующей мысли - в Штатах, как и в ЮАР все беды от черных. Я ничего против них не имею- душевные люди каждый по отдельности. НО! Видимо

South Africa

I have not been in South Africa while apartheid times, so I am not able to make a true comparison.
However, in comparison with Tanzania/Kenya, South Africa is way much better, safer and tourist welcoming/oriented.
I actually really like it. I have not seen any crimes in there, I spent overall more than a month there all over the place (J'burg to Cape Town everthing in between).

Also blacks are welcoming, never had any troubles with them (had lots of troubles with blacks in Eastern Africa though).

Namibia and Botswana also are very safe to travel.

My italian friend from Philippines did have trouble there, but happiely escaped. Well, u never know where u can find "adventures", even in much more civilized places: http://2aroundtheworld.livejournal.com/24424.html

However statistics says about one 31 murder/100000 pop. In some places up to 100. One of the biggest rates in the world.

i am not sure about "statistic", i was casually drinking coffee in nice Pretoria coffe shop while watching TV about unrests, almost a civil war happening right now in..... Pretoria...

)) Hehehe. Same was in Croatia. On TV was a flood, covering streets and bringing the cars down. When i came, i found few pools around. Locals told that somewhere in a small village close to Zagreb, this really happened one day and all TV and newspapers reporters have been there)))
