I didn't expect them to glue my belly button shut

Last week's surgery was a much better experience than I ever could have imagined. All of the staff was nice and considerate and courteous, the anesthesiologist gave me a shot with a teeny tiny needle to numb up my arm before he put in the iv so I didn't have any pain from that AT ALL, the nurses were fantastic about making sure I was comfortable - ( Read more... )

I'm glad they treated you so well, and that you're okay. *careful hug*

How long till you're back to normal? Did your doc give you a time-line? :)

Thank you. :)

They said the usual recovery period for this type of thing is one to two weeks, so I'm hoping by this time next week I'll be almost as good as new.

Glue eh?
On the plus side, I suppose it means there aren't any stitches to remove later.
But then, you won't be left with an Interesting Scar! Or is this also a Good Thing if one is a girl?

I'm glad that it seems to have gone OK, and that your pain meds don't leave you totally monged-out.
Being nobbut a craven scapegrace, I'd have asked the Doctor for a note excusing me from Work (which is, as any fule kno, a four-letter word) for a couple of weeks at least, and also the Strongest Drugs Known To Humanity.

Do your medics think that they've found the cause of/solved your health issues with this procedure?
Here's hoping that they have.

Are the dogs treating you any differently?
Do they understand that you are not currently as energetic/mobile/flexible as usual, and so are making allowances for that; have they not noticed; or have they noticed & so are Taking Advantage as a result?
:D

Best wishes for a speedy recuperation,
G.

Heh, yes, glue. It's really weird, but I guess it's doing the job. Re: scarring, I don't know how this is going to impact the incision sites. I personally don't mind scars, so the lack of an interesting one would be a bit disappointing, but liveable, if that's how things play out.

If given my choice, I would have morphine for my recovery, but they seem to frown on gratuitously handing it out for some reason ... I did take some time off work (although not as much as I would have liked), so today was my first day back.
