First off: I'm still unemployed. I did go talk with a lady from "Career Opportunities" and she'll try to find a job for me. It's a bit like hiring a taxi in an unfamiliar city. It might zip you right to where you want to go... or, it might cross two or three extra bridges as it spirals toward and away from the destination. But, it beats walking ( Read more... )

you could always read a collection of short stories. I highly suggest Juan Rulfo, especially The Burning Plain. Also, a novel that you might like is Rayuela by Julio Cortazar.

I'm going to recommend my last fun book: Kitchen by Banana Yochimoto. It's a short, fun read. (Well, not "fun" as in happy fun. Depressing fun. But still, a wonderful book.)

I stained my shirt with ice cream today. Looks like santorum. Ick.

If you haven't already read it, you should read the new translation of Don Quixote (by Grossman). I'm in the middle of it at the moment and, so far, it is wildly entertaining. Plus, its one of "those" books.

One of "them", eh? I must uncharacteristically confess ignorance.

But, I've never read Cervantes, and everywhere I go people speak of Spain's great contribution by birthing the novel. Perhaps this could be my opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.
