Recycling yarn

I've read several times about people who buy cheap wool-sweaters, ribble them off, and knit something new with it. Has anybode here tried this already?

ya, there's a great tutorial here. it's not too hard, but it is a lot of work, especially with washing and measuring it all.

I love it! It's cheap, and I get to play with fun yarns without worrying I'm getting the best 'use' out of 20/30 dollar yarns.

I did that with a cotton sweater. I really liked the yarn, it was sort of like candy canes ^_^;; Part of it became a little lace wristbag for a friend for Xmas.

I have, and it's fun! I love frogging something that isn't mine.

It feels somewhat theraputic.
