TITLE: A Little Over Curious
AUTHOR: ShadowedRei
FANDOM: CSI Las Vegas
PAIRING: Nick/Greg
PROMPT: 13 questions
RATING: somewhere between R and NC-17 just to be on the safe side.
WORD COUNT: 2461
SUMMARY: “Thank you, Nick,” She fallowed him into the kitchen settling at the table while Nick put the water and coffee into the maker, “So what do you do at the Lab?”
WARNINGS: A tiny bit of bondage, it’s consensual and mostly fluffy, I promise J
NOTES: A few actually. First, I don’t remember anyone canon mentioning Greg’s mom’s name so I made it up. Second, I don’t have a beta it’s just me and my trusty spell checker. Third, I know the title is corny. It was 2am when I thought of it and I’m horrible at these things.
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own ‘em, I just play with ‘em and I don’t make any money off ‘em cause if I did I’d have more than an overdraft notice to my name.
The pounding at the door woke Nick from the rather nice dream. He grabbed his robe taking a few breaths to calm himself trying to banish the pictures of Greg tied to their bed from his dreams. The pounding persisted.
“I’M COMING!” Nick shouted. As he was making his way to the door he noticed the clock on the wall said it was ten am and he’d only been out of work for three hours. He opened the door to find an older woman with familiar brown eyes filled with confusion.
“Oh, I’m sorry to disturb you. I was looking for Greg Sanders, this is the address on the Christmas card he sent me.” She flashed an envelope with Greg’s loopy handwriting across it, “He mentioned that he had moved…”
“It’s the right address Ma’am, he’s not home from work yet.” Nick’s tired brain couldn’t process what was going on.
“You must be his room mate. I’m Penni Sanders, his mom. I’m in town for business and wanted to stop in and surprise him.” She extended her hand.
“Oh sorry about my manners Mrs. Sanders, I’m Nick Stokes I work with Greg,” He felt his brain snap awake at the word mom. He gave her hand a gentle shake, “Come in, I’ll put on some coffee.”
“Thank you, Nick,” She fallowed him into the kitchen settling at the table while Nick put the water and coffee into the maker, “So what do you do at the Lab?”
“I’m a CSI level 3, it’s field work, Ma’am.” Nick answered joining her at the table uncomfortably. He knew that Greg didn’t tell his mom everything but he didn’t know exactly what she knew.
“That must be horrible having to see dead bodies everyday and chasing murders…” she trailed off a minute, “How do you do it?”
“It’s all about getting justice for the victims and their families. You just have to keep that in mind. It gets difficult though. Through out the course of the investigation you sometimes get close to the victims and their families.” He explained.
“That sounds hard, at least my Greg doesn’t have to go through that in the DNA lab.” She gave the proud momma smile and Nick automatically realized where Greg got his smile and his eyes. The coffee pot made the gurgle sound that said the coffee was finished. Nick jumped to his feet to get it.
“Do you take cream or sugar?” Nick asked pouring the coffee into two mugs.
“Does Greg still keep hazelnut around?” Penni replied.
“Yea, he always likes his coffee super sweet, “Nick tried to force the affection out of his voice but that only made it worse. He buried his head in the refrigerator to hide his blush, pretending to look for the creamer.
“Yea, well, he gets that from me.” she shot him a curious look as he ‘found’ the creamer in the door. He put the creamer, sugar and coffee mug in front of her.
“I’m more of a black coffee drinker, I wouldn’t want to over do it for you Ma’am.” He fiddled with he mug anxiously.
“Do you know when Greg is due home?” She asked as she doctored her coffee to her taste which Nick noted as almost exactly how Greg took his.
“About an hour, shouldn’t be too much longer.” Nick glanced at the microwave clock.
“Oh, um, can I use your restroom?” She asked sipping her coffee, “I’ve only just come from the airport.”
“It’s the first door on the right Mrs. Sanders.” Nick pointed her in the direction of the hall.
“Thank you, and it’s just Penni.” She said getting up. She took in the pictures in the hallway. On one side there was a bunch of people who all vaguely looked like Nick. She smiled finding the other side were pictures of either her or both her and Greg. He must of moved some time ago to have already set this up, she thought. After finishing her business she could help but look around a little bit. She found two types of shampoo but the only conditioner was the one Greg had always used. Also two toothbrushes, two combs, but only one mouthwash and laundry hamper. Only one uses mouth wash and one takes his laundry to his room after a shower, she rationalized as she washed her hands. As she left the bathroom she couldn’t help but be curious about her sons home. She counted three doors in the hall including the bathroom. That made sense to her. The door across from the bathroom was closed but down the hall the third door was open. She figured a peek wouldn’t hurt but she knew Greg would be mad if he found out. That was what they argued about most when he was still in school. She tiptoed down the hall and into the room where she instantly froze.
Nick glanced at the clock wondering how long Penni would be. He couldn’t blame her though he didn’t know anyone who liked using the bathroom on a plane or in the dirty airport bathrooms. He figured he might have time to send Greg a warning text to let him know his mom was here. He noticed the bathroom door was open as he made his way to the bedroom where his phone was charging. He didn’t have time to wonder where Penni was as he walked into the room he shared with Greg. She was standing not far into the room looking shocked with her hand covering her mouth.
Penni looked around the room shocked. It was obvious that both men shared this room. There were two phone chargers, a green robe hanging next to an empty hook on the closet door. The empty hook was no doubt where Nick had kept his blue robe. There was a stack of Cds on one side of the stereo with Big and Rich on top, obviously not Greg’s, and on the other side was another stack with Rage against the Machine on top, that one obviously Greg’s. One nightstand had a single book, glasses case and a forensics journal of some sort. The other one had the iPod alarm clock she has given Greg for Christmas last year along with an unorganized stack of magazines, and a half empty glass of water. She wondered how long and why Greg hadn’t told her. She was disrupted from her thoughts when she heard Nick come up behind her. She knew she should apologize but she was too upset to care.
“How long have you been sleeping with my Baby?” she snapped not looking at him. She thought she was close to her son but now she wasn’t so sure.
“About a year and a half, Ma’am,” Nick answered wishing he could shrink into the wall.
“A year and a half?” her head snapped toward him meeting his uneasy gaze, “Why wouldn’t he tell me something like this? My own son doesn’t trust me…”
“He’s afraid of how you’d react if you found out he was in love with a man.” He knew he shouldn’t but in but the hurt look in her eyes made him answer.
“He thinks I would disown him?” a tear slipped down her cheek.
“He told me that once, when the topic came up.” Nick suddenly found the floor interesting.
“He should know I would never do that.” she shook her head in disbelief, more tears flowing, “You know that the doctors told his father and I that we couldn’t have children. It wasn’t two weeks later that I found out I was pregnant with Greg. I wouldn‘t, I couldn‘t, ever disown him.”
“He never told me that,” Nick reached out to pat her arm when he found himself with arms full of Greg’s sobbing mom. He rubbed her back trying to hide his discomfort.
“What the hell---” Greg stopped short seeing it was his mother Nick was holding, “MOM?!”
“Were you EVER planning on telling me?” She said pulling out of the awkward embrace facing her son with the hurt evident in her eyes.
“I, uh, um---” Greg sputtered trying to get his brain to start back up. One second he thought Nick was cheating on him and the next he found out his mom now knew he was gay.
“Don’t you try to get around it Gregory Alexander Sanders, Answer my question.” Her voice changed from hurt to commanding.
“I was afraid, mom.” he answered meekly looking at his hands.
“Good heavens,” she pulled her son into her arms, “I couldn’t ever disown you. Your all I have now, Greg. You’ve always been my miracle baby.”
“I’m sorry, mom.” his voice muffled as he hugged his mom back. He spotted Nick over his moms shoulder looking very uncomfortable. He realized he and his mother were blocking the only way out of the room. Nick had just to stand there and be uncomfortable.
“Why don’t we go have some coffee before it gets cold.” Penni said feeling the discomfort in the room. They all headed back toward the kitchen. They drank the first cup in an uncomfortable silence until Penni proclaimed that her convention at the MGM was going to start soon. They walked her to the door and as soon as it was closed Nick slowly turned his head to stare at Greg.
“You do know that could have been worse?” Greg looked at him with an innocent look in his eyes.
“Really, How?” Nick looked at him with disbelief.
“She could be staying with us while she’s in town.” Greg pointed out watching Nicks eyes grow wider as though that thought never occurred to him.
“That would be awkward.” Nick shook his head to rid the mental image of Penni walking in on them.
“I’m sorry, Nicky, I know you were uncomfortable,” Greg put his hands arms around Nicks neck pulling himself closer and pinning Nick against the door.
“Whoa, slow it down Greggo, I’m just getting over this mental image of your mom walking in on us. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to get hard again.” Nick teased giving the grin that made the sexy age lines around his mouth and eyes deepen.
“But Nicky, your not that much older than me ,” the jokeish insult slipped out before Greg could stop it.
“You didn’t just--” Nick pulled Greg’s arms from his neck giving him a predatory look.
“Uh, oh.” Greg got a look of mock horror on his face before making a beeline for the bedroom with Nick right on his tail. Nick caught him just before he was opening drawer for his sleep pants.
“I don’t think so, Greggo. Not after all that.” Nick said grabbing Greg’s wrist turn him so they were face to face. Nicks lips were on Greg’s before he could say anything. They may have been playing rough but the kiss was anything but. Greg knew that Nick would never, not even playing, force him to do something he didn’t want to. Greg parted his lips allowing the kiss to deepen. Nick broke the kiss after a few moments leaving a trail of kisses toward his ear.
“I was having this hot dream earlier, you were tied to the headboard…” Nick whispered his voice heavy with arousal, “Do you think, maybe we could…?”
“That’s fucking hot.” Greg captured the other mans lips in a passionate kiss. He felt himself being lead backwards. He came to a stop when the backs of his calves hit the mattress.
“Strip,” Nick’s voice was firm. He let his hand brush the other mans erection causing a moan that sounded almost like a purr. Greg fallowed the ‘order’ and when Nick returned with their silk ties from closet he was completely naked, hard and dripping. He captured Greg’s lips lowering him unto the bed. He didn’t break the kiss as he slid Greg’s hands, one at a time, above there heads tying them to the black iron of the headboard.
“OH GOOD LORD!” It was a screeching female voice that interrupted their moment. Nick jumped with so much momentum he fell to the floor between the window and wall. That left Greg naked, pulling on his bounds, face to face with his mother.
“MOM?!” he shouted mostly of surprise and embarrassment, still pulling on his wrists in some attempt to get free and cover himself.
“My wallet fell out of my purse onto the table and I had to come back for it so I could show the clerk my ID to get my room, and I knocked, the door was unlocked, then I heard noises and oh my god. I’m so sorry.” She left almost running. They heard the door close and the rental car’s tires squeal as she pulled out of the drive way. Nick sat up looking over the edge of the bed at Greg who just invented a new shade of read for his face.
“Do you mind?” Greg asked sarcastically motioning to where he was still tied to the bed. Nick tossed the ties to the floor before heading out of the room, presumably to lock the door. Nick’s robe landed beside the ties. Greg had already burrowed beneath the covers when he returned to the bed. He pulled Greg into his arms kissing the top of his head tenderly.
“I really hope it goes better when I meet your parents.” Greg said drowsily feeling the lack of sleep from his shift and other stress behind his eyes.
“Me too,” he murmured nearly asleep himself.
