I really hate that they keep time jumping the season premiers. I feel like it really takes a lot away from the audience, like with how we were just supposed to accept Booth/Brennan after the hiatus. :( Bah.
Also, I kind of feel like it's OOC for Booth to NOT be angry that Bones took off with his kid. but Idk.
I agree with you. Booth would be upset; any person would be. Because with moments like that logic escapes you.
Again I agree; it's taking away from us. In my opinion it cheapens their reunion. If they were gone for more then a few episodes (Summer in my opinion doesn't count) We need to see them apart; not let it be implied. It would make the reunion that much more special.
I think they're sabotaging a good story just to put them back together too quickly.
Don't shoot me for this, but I don't see anything wrong with advancing the time line the same amount of time it's been for the audience. In other words, if they advance it three months or so, that would sit better with me, and if Hanson decides to he wants us to see the emotions of everyone immediately after Brennan left, he could probably accomplish that in flashbacks. Picking up immediately where they left off - after it's been three months for the audience - can sometimes make a show feel out of balance. Or it could just be me. ;)
As for Booth, well, like Hanson said, he and Brennan are "facing a situation together," and I believe that's exactly it. If Booth had been in on Bones's flight, he would *not* have been able to help catch Pelant. As it is, he still might not be, but this is TV after all, so I suspect he'll be allowed to continue on the case, even though he's personally invested.
As for getting them back together at the end of the first episode, that does seem rushed to me, so perhaps the first episode will contain
( ... )
I really doubt they're going to do flashbacks. I think that because of season 7; the fans wanted flashbacks and not just of B/B's sleeping together; but flashbacks of them telling everyone; and etc. They've really not into doing flashbacks. Even of Brennan's past we saw glimpses here and there. Same with Booth's military time with Parker.
I think they're rushing this because they're afraid of the backlash of the shippers. If that's the point then why take this route at all. I mean in my opinion this could be some great acting. But I've learned that they really don't like prolonged storylines.
I honestly can't imagine anyone on Bones is afraid of anything from 'shippers, backlash or otherwise. I think they just want to tell a good story, and if it means rushing things or leaving big holes, so be it. As I said, all it means for me is that I probably have some good fanfic to look forward to, as fans try to make sense of what they're seeing on the show. :)
In some respects, I think it's kind of awesome that Bones chose to run in the first place. I mean, the logics of the situation dictated it, for sure, but that she actually up and took off was something to see. Her dad summed it up correctly when he talked of the computers being the system and of Pelant being IN the computers (or something to that effect). Plus I adore Ryan O'Neal, and I thought for once his character was making complete sense, even though he was talking about his daughter actively choosing to become a fugitive.
But I digress. Whether flashbacks or no, all we can do is wait and see, huh?
I have to disagree; I think leaving big holes and rushing things is the opposite of telling a good story; especially when the writers have the power to write really great episodes; but that's just my view.
I didn't have a problem with Brennan running; she does things that make logically sense (For the most part). But I think Bones and Booth need a serious shake up; their relationship is too 'happy' for two people who logically don't make sense. I think there needs to be some conflicting feelings from Booth. It'd be too picture perfect if he was 100 percent okay with everything.
I just don't think they'll show flashbacks; because of past experiences.
I agree with you; especially forced; I felt they tried to make it too gimmicky and comical at times.
I feel they've been boringly happy but I also don't care about their relationship; I enjoyed their tension in beginning seasons; but in season 3 I just felt like they were trying too hard to force the natural chemistry that Booth/Brennan DB/ED already had; and that began to hurt the chemistry for me. And so to have season 7 mostly about them and their routines of trying to figure it all out wasn't what I was in the mood for; to me it didn't have a solid balance.
Oh for season 1, 2, and 3 adult plots and serious issues and intriguing cases and casework-- with a talented, quirky cast and sizzling DB/ED chemistry as the cherry on top.
For whatever reasons, those seem to be when so many of us got hooked and the episodes so many of us remember, fondly.
I will watch until I'm not interested any longer, and this past season did a lot to stoke my interest again. But I keep hoping hoping that ... wouldn't it be cool if the LAST couple seasons of Bones were as memorable as the first couple?
Im probably California dreamin', but hey. It's a good dream. :)
I think it's because those episodes were handled perfectly; with a lot of wit and class. There was perfect balance it wasn't all about one thing or another.
And now it seems like we only get one type of those episodes a year; two if we're lucky.
I completely agree with you; I'd be nice if they really put a lot of thought and potential in their episodes. I feel like so much of it is filler; and then you get a few episodes that are supposed to mean something.
I'd like to see more with Pelant instead of a few episodes a year. That's what I thought was wrong with the sniper; they needed more of him even when the actor wasn't there.
