Hmmm. I suppose it did take guts to do this, but is that always the goal in TV writing? I mean, to my mind there are better things to strive for than "What can we do that will surprise/annoy people the MOST?".
A long time ago he said if people talk bad about Bones they're still talking. I don't think he cares what kind of fame Bones gets as long as it gets fame. Which is why I wont be watching anymore of his shows. I feel he doesn't care about fans, the show, or the characters. And I just can't put myself through that.
I agree with you, I think Bones is now like Lady Gaga, Gaga is shock value, Bones is like a lot of other TV pre-existing and otherwise so they're all about shocking and pissing the viewers off because they know it'll attract attention.
There are shows that strive on good writing, acting, and storytelling and those are the shows I enjoy watching.
Oh lawd...I would wait until next season to give him any award. I mean, how hard is it to write, "...and then she got knocked up!" It's keeping the show afloat after the game changer that's really impressive.
But no matter what side you fall, you have to give props when it’s due. Too often a show is afraid to drop a bombshell like this that will change the show. Hart Hanson and his team took a huge leap of faith and that took massive balls. Balls of steel!
I don't view this as a 'having balls, or gutsy' move. I felt like it was the predictable one and that's the one they went with. "Emily is pregnant lets go with it." The fact that they went with this didn't shock anyone because most people even thought "She's pregnant, Brennan might be pregnant."
Bones writers don't take chances they take the easy way out because they don't want to write too hard. They want to write poor character driven scripts to get by because a lot of fans would be okay with that. They've been doing it for the last 3 years.
