There's no love triangle being set up. In one of the interviews (I think with Geoff, could be wrong) he laid out more about Walter's character as a guy who's looking for his One...and finds her on a regular basis. We actually saw him as interested in two women here - Brennan and the woman who was murdered. Yes, he says that at the end about Brennan maybe being the one, but note the lack of reaction to that from Ike and Leo. They're used to it.
Based on that interview, it happens on a regular basis. I didn't get the sense that they're going the route of hound dog with him, so much as that's just one of his things.
Either way, no, this isn't going to be a serious obstacle to B&B. They even toned some of the interest Brennan and Walter have in one another down from the original script. (Note - her interest was always in his ability rather than him as a man.)
I think they should have done a two part episode; especially if they really want to sell this show; which was the point. Honestly when they first started to talk about it I thought it was going to be that way.
They don't time out episodes/seasons well at all. I think that the last few seasons of Bones have been nothing but filler. Nothing is happening. And when something finally does happen; like a character/story arc it's gets a few episodes here and there in a season.
I just don't think you can introduce a character in an episode and then give them their own show at; let alone call it a 'spinoff'. If that's the way the writers want to go about doing it then they need to put him in more episodes to sell the idea of him.
I just think this season though better then season 5, and especially seasn 4 has been ALL over the place; it has no balance. I missed a few episodes and when I return to Bones I never get lost. I want there to be a connection to the episodes and B/B relationship drama shouldn't be it.
