Davis is waiting. It's been a long few months, getting Jenny through the stresses of this pregnancy, but she also has a feeling the tides are turning. It isn't about Jenny being happier, but about being just a little bit more stable. Jenny's looking her in the eye more, responding more, and she's even seen a smile or two. But she's treading

Jen arrives on time, like always. She's wearing that same oversized sweater she wore all winter, except now it fits better. She takes her usual seat across from Davis.

Jen takes a moment to organize her thoughts since there are so many variables. "Well, if labor goes fast, my doctor will likely not bother taking out the cerclage."

"Are you expecting labor to go fast?"

[on_jennys_terms]

Jen takes another moment before answering, "It was with Lucie."

[2012_approaches]

Davis nods, allowing that to hang in the air, respecting not just the moment but also the strength Jenny has to say what she just said. "Okay." She pauses. "And are you ready for when she is born? For the work that is about to come at you?"

"I'll be fine with the whole parenting thing," she says and then takes a deep breath. "I told Alex that I might have to be completely hammered to get through her first surgery."

[2012_approaches]

"Well," Davis smiles a bit, "that isn't surprising, actually."

[on_jennys_terms]

Jen tilts her head, "It isn't?"

[2012_approaches]

"Of course not. It's a natural reaction to the stress you're feeling." A pause. "You're a parent. And you're worried about your child." She leaves out that she wouldn't recommend it. Jen knows that herself.

[on_jennys_terms]

She nods, "Well, he said I couldn't be if he couldn't be, so it's a moot point anyway."

[2012_approaches]

"The emotional need to do it isn't a moot point." Davis tilts her head at Jenny.

[on_jennys_terms]

"No, I suppose not," she answers.

[2012_approaches]

"How soon after she's born is her first surgery?"

[on_jennys_terms]

Jen rubs her hand over her belly before she answers, "It'll depend on how she's doing at birth, but most likely it'll be that week."

"That has to be terrifying."

She just nods.
