Author's Notes: This is part one of a series of drabbles, based on the lunar phases. They can be read separately, as they're only loosely connected, but I will link to the next piece at the bottom, for those who are interested.


Remus was still beautiful, despite the gray hair and overlapping scars. More so, to sympathetic eyes. Sirius pulled him close, careful not to wake him, for only in sleep would Remus accept what comfort he could offer.

It had shaken him, seeing the transformation again. Sirius had imagined the shifts of their school years, when youth and companionship made it almost an adventure. This moon, the first without Snape’s potion, had shattered his illusions.

When Sirius crawled into his bed the following nights, determined, Remus had been too tired to argue. Sirius held tighter, wondering if it would be enough.
