Reason for the Recommendation: I always want to start with this one because I think it captures cultural attitudes about canon perfectly and I love the idea of fanon as the bad boy your mom warned you about.

Summary: Two friends at the end of the world. Again.
Reason for the Recommendation: The author captures Pratchett and Gaiman's tone and the voices of Crowley and Aziraphale perfectly. There's humor and affection and a little sadness. It's lovely.
Sherlock
Title: I Don't Know What More to Ask For (on AO3)

Summary: Post-Reichenbach. Sherlock learns that life before John is very different from a life without John. This is the story of how he grieves.
Reason for the Recommendation: This is brutal. Even the bit of hope at the end is a twist of the knife. The process of Sherlock's grief feels very real and true to character. I particularly like the part with Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Sherlock's fumbling attempts to communicate with John. It's clear he's totally out of his depth but John is important enough that he makes the effort. This is really an impressive portrait of grief.
