X-Men, gen or other, 'First they came...'oddeggAugust 30 2011, 01:17:12 UTC
This is... a strange prompt, anons. This is an uncomfortable prompt.
I'm asking you to imagine that you, or an OC of your choice, are there at the forefront of the mutant fight for civil rights.
We all hope that we would be on the side of moral righteousness here, don't we? We all think that, given the same situation, when they came for those who cannot speak up we would stand up for them.
But what if we didn't, anons? What if we took the path of least resistance? What if we were among the many who turn to history afterwards and try to claim 'we didn't know'?
Write me that, anons. Break my heart. Break your heart. Show me the slivers of goodness that make the ruins that much more hurtful.

While reading this I was reminded strongly of V for Vendetta, particularly the comic book. If you haven't read it, I'd strongly recommend you do. Your story holds a very similar power and message- it left me with a feeling very much like what I felt after reading V...this is...in my eyes, this is the best compliment I can give to a story of this kind. Your Charles made me think of Valerie and her letter. Heart breaking.

Wow, thank you so much. That's an incredible compliment, and for me V for Vendetta is an example in chilling and exceptional storytelling, so thank you.

oh my... that was just, amazing... this actually broke my heart because of how TRUE it is. I remember studying the poem 'not my business' in year 10 english. this is an INCREDIBLE development of that poem... truly outstanding.

The fill is over here, and it's AU and (hopefully) quite disturbing. I hope it pleases :)

And I mean everyone. Because it's fucking INCREDIBLE and it's exactly all of the dark thoughts in my head when I prompted this.
Be prepared to sweep up the shards of your heart afterward.
