Charles/Erik - Charles becoming a bit bitter

EEK! Long prompt is long!

Everyone assumes Charles has had this perfect childhood and that’s why he can’t understand why they want to kill humans. But he didn’t - what with his stepdad and stepbrother and stuff. But he saw how people can change (stepdad saving him from fire, plus other random things he's observed). He feels a little betrayed that someone he cared so much about, trusted the most, just left him. That he didn’t believe in him enough to know there was a reason why he was so optimistic.

He’s bitter how they never saw his suffering, assuming that he never had to suffer. (And he suffered from humanity alone at least as far as Charles knows, but Erik suffered from both mutants and humans - so in the end shouldn’t Erik understand that it’s not humanity that makes someone bad?) So, he decides to hold everyone a little away from him - cue the start of transition manipulative and extra serious (but well-meaning) professor x of later years. Jaded, but still trying to protect everyone he can.

OP: OMG AM NOT ALONE! ;_; I've been living in this meme since yday, and while I love Erik and want to smoosh him for everything he's had to endure, Charles had a pretty tough time of it too, yaknow (his betrayals are much more personal, after all), it's not fair everyone just thinks he's a naive fool untouched by painnnnnn

And yeah, I'm hoping we see more of Charles' traumatic past in the next movie. Because there WILL be a next movie.
