Post Movie, Erik visits Charles at night and discovers that his friend is now a paraplegic. He's overcome with guilt, and Charles tries to convince him that he holds no grudges. Cue comfort sex with Erik being as slow and sweet and loving as possible while Charles projects loving thoughts in his head.

Bonus points if at some point, Erik kisses the scar the bullet shot left on Charle's lower back.

I'd like it if they acknowledge that they love each other, will always love each other and will always be the dearest of friends even though they're still on opposing sides.

This is the story that I've been wanting since I saw the movie. I'll give it my best shot, OP, but others should as well!
