FILL-3: no power in the 'verse [1/?] -- Charles/Erik, Firefly AU

I know there are like two other fills for this prompt, but I --really-- wanted to try my hand at this too. Enjoy!
Five years ago, war broke out between humans and mutants. The conflict spread throughout all corners of the universe, both sides suffered massive casualties. In the end, much to many peoples’ surprise, the humans prevailed. By a stroke of luck, one of their own developed a weapon, a pulse that could be fired in short bursts which would temporarily rob the mutants of their powers.
It was enough. The humans had soldiers and the mutants, who relied heavily on their abilities, were not.
The humans banished the mutants to the Outer Rim, and the few who managed to escape the battlefield fled. But they bide their time and plan, for the next stage of evolution was upon them and even if Homo sapiens did not go quietly, their time was coming to an end and they would go nonetheless

Mystique was knelt down next to the large container he’d brought onboard, and was caught completely off-guard by the punch thrown by one angry space captain.
“What the hell?” he sputtered, holding his cheek. “What’s your problem?”
“Apparently, you are,” Erik growled. He grabbed the front of the other man’s shirt and lifted him forcibly to his feet. “What did you tell him?”
“Tell who what?” Mystique protested.
“You’ve got the wrong man.” Erik glanced over to where Darwin had appeared from the shadows. And then he turned around to see Stryker holding a gun. Goddamit.“Raven Xavier, codename Mystique, you are ordered by Coalition Law to stand down,” Stryker said, edging closer, the gun in his hand never wavering. “Get on the ground, now. You too, Captain Magneto, for harboring a Class S mutant fugitive

Yay, love that you're approaching the prompt with the X-Men characters in the Firefly verse! Lovely fill so far. Can't wait to see what happens next (and what Erik's reaction will be to Mystique revealing herself)

And then, as suddenly as it had began, the sensation ceased. Havok and Beast were leaning heavily against the bulkhead, Angel and Banshee were on their knees with tears of pain in their eyes, and the mutant that Wolverine had miraculously kept his hold on the entire time had transformed into a blue scaled creature with red flaming red hair, a Disruptor clutched in her right hand.
“Drop it,” Erik said sharply. She glared at him. The boy in the crate continued to howl. “Drop it, right now.”
She threw it at him, morphed into a serpent, and slithered out of Wolverine’s hold toward the boy, who was now crawling out of the crate. “Charles!” she cried, morphing a third time into a decidedly more ordinary form. “It’s okay, calm down, I’m here.”
The boy stopped screaming. He blinked at her, panting heavily. “R-Raven?” he whispered. She smiled tremulously. “Raven, they-they talk to me, they keep asking me, they…hurt my head. My head hurts, everything hurts

Apologies if the characters are a bit OOC. I'll try to have them back to the ones we know and love...soon. :)The boy was lying on one of the beds in the infirmary, limp from heavy sedation. He was probably only a few years younger than himself, if Raven’s timeline was accurate, but he looked so much younger. Thin from malnourishment and a sickly shade of white, the humans had done a number on him. There was nothing in his eyes when he opened them

“He wasn’t always like that,” Raven tried to explain. “No, he was…nothing like that. He was kind, and loving, and so unbelievably smart.” She laughed through her tears before sobbing even harder. “Can you believe me? It’s all my fault, if only I had gotten there sooner

I am so happy you're filling this too! And so, so excited that you're going for the whole 'verse! I really wanted to see it, and now it's here!
I love Angel as the little Kaylee, and Raven is so loving and brilliant. That little moment where emotion was just sucked from Charles was so good! Really looking forward to more of this!

Oh man, I'm loving this prompt too, and this fill. Very interesting, and I love bonus!Wolverine. I'm liking how closely it follows the start of the Firefly series. :)
