Erik/Charles Worth it?

In the comics, usually Charles has to die in order for Erik to find peace/get the world he wants. I want Erik to be given the option of the future/peace he wants, or Charles life and a different future where nothing is guaranteed.

He can choose either way (up to author) but I really want him to be weighing his happiness against Charles's life.
