Erik is a shark at an aquarium, Charles is his feeder/trainer/handler/whatever. Would prefer a non-powered AU, but if they're still mutants that's fine too ( ... )

An update! I'm enjoying writing this and am quite happy to see that others are enjoying reading it. Happy Shark Week, once again. Erik’s speech had come along rather nicely by the time Charles got them all back to his flat. He had moved Moira to a smaller, plastic fish tank that he had purchased at the Sea World gift shop, and Erik was in a spare janitor’s jumpsuit. They didn’t look very much put-together as they made their way through the parking lot, Erik trying to break away from the group and return to his tank as Hank attempted to restrain him, but they made it home ( ... )

“Oh. Well, where’s he from, then? Anywhere exotic?”

“Germany.” It was the first country that came to Charles’ mind. “Erik here is from… Dusseldorf… and he’s here for a… work exchange program. At Sea World.”

“I didn’t know they had a Sea World in Germany,” Raven remarked blithely as she settled in next to her brother and set the pizzas on the coffee table. “Cute fish, by the way.”

“I like fish,” Erik stated. Raven smiled kindly at him before turning her face to Charles’ and whispering,

“A little dim, isn’t he?”

“Foreign, love, he’s foreign. I’m sure he’s got lots of complex thoughts rattling around up there. He just needs to work on vocalizing them in English.” Hank coughed, reclaiming the attentions of everyone in the room ( ... )

Raven seemed to take it in stride. There are not many other ways to receive information so completely baffling, Charles figured. She had even volunteered herself to be Erik’s “personal life coach” for the remainder of the evening, putting him through the motions of basic interaction and day-to-day life ( ... )

“I think I can explain it better this time,” Hank offered from his seat. He had taken out his phone and was looking intently at what was on the screen. He indicated that Charles should come look, verify that the explanation would be on the right level for Erik. Charles moved to sit beside the younger scientist and took a look.

“Oh… Hank. That’s very creative.” He paused, considering the image on screen. “I suppose it’s worth a try.” He took the phone from Hank’s hands and moved next to Erik. “We’re going to read a book, Erik. It’s called You Can’t Go to School Naked Raven stifled a snort of laughter. “Oh my God. Do it.” Charles cleared his throat as Erik leaned in to look at the pictures of the e-book ( ... )

“Raven! Kindly refrain from talking about” he glanced at Erik, considering whether or not he felt qualified to have a ‘birds-and-bees’ conversation with a shark yet. He didn’t. “…s-e-x… in front of me! I hardly want to acknowledge that you know of its existence!” His face had flushed, attracting Erik’s curious attention.

“Red,” he pointed out.

“You’re boring,” Raven chided. “How are you liking the story, Erik?”

“I’m not at school. I’m not having clothes now.” Erik announced. It was not the response Raven had been expecting. He began tugging at the zipper that ran down the front of his jumpsuit.

“No, Erik! No!” Charles lunged out of his chair, phone abandoned, arms waving wildly in a gesture he hoped communicated the inappropriateness of Erik’s actions. “You must always keep your clothes on! Think of the book!” Erik looked at him blankly before shaking his head and removing his hand from the zipper ( ... )

That night, after Raven and Hank had left, Moira fed and as coddled as fish could be, and Erik changed into proper nightclothes, Charles had trouble getting to sleep. This was incredible, considering the kind of exhausting day he had, but Erik was pacing the hall outside his bedroom with heavy steps for the greater part of the evening, and the slightly erratic pace of his footfalls did not exactly lend itself to relaxation. Eventually, though, nature won out and sleep took hold of Charles, thankfully drowning out the sounds of Erik’s movement in its void ( ... )

Oh this is absolutely adorable. Erik's logic and then Raven egging him on was hilarious and provided a great contrast to Hank and Charles' rationality

OMG this is so hilarious. Shark!Erik is adorable. He's like a child with his logic hihihihi! Also, I really like Raven in this. Poor Charles and Hank. (And Moira, of course)

At first when I was reading this fill I was like "Okay, this is pretty adorable"

And then they started reading that children's book about nudity to Erik and I was like "Okay, this is the best thing ever"

I can't can't to see what happens next!
