A twist on the usual dark!charles manipulating Erik. The twist being... Charles isn't manipulating Erik, at all, but Erik is incredibly suspicious and bitter about his own feelings for the other guy.

Charles maybe makes a move on him and Erik gets really aggressive and nasty about it, throwing it in his face because he thinks Charles is responsible for it. But then Charles is overwhelmed and hurt and tells him no, or get off, or something, and leaves rather disturbed and heartbroken.

bonus points if Erik realizes he's been a massive dick and tries to make it up to an extremely reluctant Charles.

Seconding this whole comment. Erik would never forgive Charles for it. Whether or not Charles had actually done it wouldn't matter.

The heartbeak comes later when Charles and Erik keep each other at close distance, because they're a good team and they want to try to re-kindle the friendship that they had before that whole...thing happen.

And then Charles becomes interested in someone else. And it makes Erik angry and lonely and he doesn't understand why, because Charles wouldn't toy with him like this when he's pursuing someone else, surely? What if whatever Charles has done is in some way permanent?

I can just see Erik shoving Charles against wall yelling "What did you do to me?!"

well, that's straying from my original prompt a little bit :X i'd prefer it mostly to be set pre-divorce if a writer does tackle it, and i do want h/c to be apart of it afterward, since i'm fairly sure having Erik accuse him of something that comes down to dubcon/rape would make him ache pretty bad.

i doubt it's gonna get filled really, because it's so late in the round and we're not that far from 4k comments, but I'll definitely post it again.

Ahaha, I don't want to prompt-jack if the OP wanted h/c, but I definitely think this should have a prompt of its own next round (if you don't, I probably will).

But I hope the OP gets awesome h/c, because as much as I am a sucker for heartbreak, I am also a sucker for adorable fluffy endings. :D (Look I need them, or this fandom would just destroy me)
