Charles/Erik, paradoxes of time-travelling

Xavier (and maybe other X-Men, but not necessarily) accidentally appears in the times of WWII. He knows where to find Erik - and that he could save him from all the pain and later grief. But - and there's a catch - then they probably won't meet in the future. Won't become friends. Won't fall in love. I'd love to see Charles saving young Erik - I have this image in my head, of Xavier shielding with his body a terrified boy, completely aware of the fact that it will change everything. And that he will lose his dear friend (will he)?

...Charles would so totally do this. True a lots. Love the skipping back and forth in the timeline, very evocative and effective -- and then when it turned out Charles had 'forgotten'/changed it was so sad... Really, fascinating and amazingly written stuff. I bows down to your skills. *bows*
