~~

Hell: Elle Bishop had thought she had known hell when she was trapped within Pinehearst with Sylar, but now she knew it had extended to the long years before she had known Adam Wilson.

Heaven: Heaven was a place Elle had thought she would never know, yet here she found herself convinced she had her own angel, her Adam, the man lying beside her now.

Name: She had a woman to thank, a woman known to most as Mary Jane Benson, the woman she had found at Sylar’s father’s home and had offered her a ride here to Genoa City and now Adam’s was the one she had come to find herself saying nightly.

Market: Elle had hardly been in the market for a new lover after what had happened with Sylar but still she hadn’t been able to fight her attraction towards Adam.

Waves: Elle’s and Adam’s lives had seemed to crash like a rogue wave into each other’s.

Hair: Given his deteriorating vision, seeing Elle for the first time hadn’t been for Adam the way it was for most men, while most saw her body he saw what he had been convinced had been a golden halo of hair falling around her face.

Sun: Perhaps the late afternoon sun beaming down around her had added to it, but that hadn’t changed how mesmerized Adam had found himself to be with her.

Potatoes: Security at the ranch hadn’t been an issue for them, Elle had seen to that and the guards had sunk like sacks of potatoes when she zapped them to ensure herself and Adam the privacy they wanted.

Comfort: Adam knew he shouldn’t get too comfortable with Elle, he had used Heather and Rafe and he only hoped Elle wouldn’t think he was doing the same with her despite his knowledge of her power.

Kiss: Their first kiss had literally been electric, Elle had giggled like she had those few times before and Adam hadn’t believed her at first when she told him what she could do but that didn’t keep him from enjoying her later demonstration.

Sensual: There had been something so incredibly sensual about it, the gleam in her eyes as the bright blue sparks danced all across his skin from her fingertips.

Pain: Adam had been so lost in watching Elle as she continued her careful exploration of his upper body that he had forgotten he was supposed to feel pain.

Star: Instead Adam only saw stars behind his closed eyelids while the sparks from Elle’s slender fingers continued to dance over his skin.

Soft: Elle knew how to be careful, she had just often chosen not to be back at The Company; now she had a reason to be soft and controlled.

Weakness: Elle knew both her father and Adam’s would consider that a weakness, but their fathers weren’t there then and they weren’t them.

Touch: Elle killed her sparks after another minute and opted to lower her fingertips to Adam’s chest, wanting to take in each muscled peak and crease of his torso and was soon furthering her realization that she never wanted to have to stop touching him.

Sex: It was more than sex for Adam and Elle now, true they hadn’t known each other long but already they had reached a level of intimacy that they hadn’t known with their past loves.

Tears: Elle saw it in the tears Adam tried to hide when he talked about his mother and how his father had treated her, how Victor had only gotten him out of jail to curb his own guilt after the beating he had suffered and even how guilty he now felt for how he had sought revenge on his father.

Ears: Adam had heard it when the stories Elle hadn’t even told her former partner fell upon his ears, he really couldn’t believe they had so much in common.

Jealousy: Adam could almost even hide his jealousy at Elle’s father having paid for how he had hurt her whereas his own father wasn’t even walking wounded despite what he had tried to do to him in these last few months.

Sky: It hadn’t been long before their days had begun to revolve around the darkening sky, knowing that it was the night that found them together; too many prying eyes at the ranch forced Elle to stay away until she could be sure she wouldn’t be seen.

Moon: When the light of the moon showed through their windows, all they could do was smile, Elle rarely kept Adam waiting any longer than that; she never had been a patient woman with the things she wanted.

Rain: It was raining the next night that she came to him, that she climbed in through his window like he had told her to.

Smile: Admittedly he couldn’t see it well, but Adam still felt Elle smile against his chest when he moved to hold her; she was soaked but he was warm and dry and there was nowhere she would have rather been.

Telephone: Adam’s own relief grew at the notion that the impending storm would knock out the telephone lines at the ranch and maybe even the cell towers, even if Victor found Elle there he wouldn’t be able to call for security tonight.

Technology: With any luck any technology would be useless tonight and they could be left alone, with each other, in the cocoon they had made for themselves within this one room of the large house.

Gift: Elle, these nights with her despite the secrecy that had to surround them for her own safety as well as his, Adam still knew them to be a gift; whether or not he deserved them was debatable.

Happiness: They were each other’s happiness now, everyone else had failed them.

Wind: The wind was howling by the time they reached his bed, the power already out, the mood set.

Speed: The storm was rushing in at full speed, Elle and Adam could both hear it and were soon finding themselves reveling in the promised fury.

Lightning/Thunder: The bright flash of lightning and the loud crackle of thunder that followed almost instantly hadn’t even been enough to distract them from their tasks.

Melody: The hail pelting against the window, roaring from above, it was all such a beautiful melody to them both; better than any mood CD Adam could have thought to put on.

Hands: Still their hands took in every inch of the other’s skin, their lips often not far behind.

Taste: The taste of danger was addictive and it was mutual as neither wanted to have to ever leave that room in what was otherwise known to most as a house of horrors so long as it could always be for them the way it was then.

Death: Adam and Elle knew some would say they were risking it all for just a little death.

Chocolate: But it was sweeter than chocolate and convinced them time and again that what they had found with one another was worth every risk they were taking.

Confusion: In their shared contentment there was no confusion.

Fear: Nor did Adam or Elle know fear when they were together like this.

Blood: Enough blood had been spilled in their pasts, it didn’t matter who’s had been unintentional and who’s had been anything but, those nights didn’t matter now.

Sickness: Now the sickness had faded and they were moving beyond the memories that most would brand them as monsters for having brought onto themselves.

Life: Adam and Elle were forging a new beginning for themselves now, a new life.

Bonds: The bonds Adam had shared with others in his past were long forgotten now, the others hadn’t proved themselves to him like Elle had.

Devotion: Unlike him, Elle was free to leave any time she wished, but her devotion to him and what they had formed was something even Adam’s nearly ruined eyes could see.

Innocence: Yet another reason for that was that Elle knew he could see, or perhaps rather sense, what no other had since she was a child; the flicker of innocence that had endured.

Clouds: Once again Adam and Elle seemed to spend the next day in his bed, watching as the storm came to an end and the clouds finally broke apart.

Completion: There was a sense of completion for Elle when Adam woke up the next morning, knowing he was seconds from realizing there was something he was missing.

Supernova: This whole month had been like a supernova for them, full of heat and blinding sparks and now it was paying off; Elle knew what it was like to be caged, she wasn’t about to let Adam go through that for another day.

Forever: Adam had been told time and again that his house arrest wouldn’t last forever, at the time he had been planning his future with the woman who had told him that the most; now there was Elle and despite her not being an ADA like Heather she was still the one he had to thank for this now.

Home: With his ankle monitor fried and the storm long gone, Adam knew he had a choice when Elle stood beside his open window with a smile and it was almost too easy for him to choose her; despite the pleasure he had taken in punishing his father he knew his home wasn’t at the ranch where he would still literally be a prisoner.

Freedom: The word for what they had found through each other was freedom, Adam and Elle had known they had found it with each other from their first night, but until that moment they had thought it had only been metaphorical.
