Jul 06, 2009 16:29

Fandom: Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright
Pairing: Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright
Theme set: Epsilon
Rating: R?
Warning[s]: Most of these contain dominant-but-emotionally-messy!Edgeworth, so if you don't like that, don't click. There's some serious angst, a few references to bondage, and insinuations about a couple of other people Edgeworth might have gotten doooown with as well. [I don't think there's anything triggering, though.]

#01 - Motion
The slight motion of the red car rocking backwards and forwards, and the steam on the windows was only a slight hint to anyone who may have walked past to the turbulence happening inside.

#02 - Cool
Some people liked warmth; warm was safe and cozy and inviting-- but Edgeworth and Wright had more in common than they dared admit, preferring the challenge, enjoying the disruption of, and finally changing the world of someone cool.

#03 - Young
"We were so young then," Edgeworth remarked, "And yet... you came back... for me..."

#04 - Last
Every time they pulled up outside Wright's crummy apartment and cleaned away the evidence of a somewhat unconventional ride home, they promised themselves it would be the last time they lost themselves like that.

#05 - Wrong
The hurt was clearly evident in Nick's voice as he rolled over, facing the wall in disbelief, breathing, "You did this with... Von Karma...?"

#06 - Gentle
There were moments when you could mistake Edgeworth for being perfectly callous and brutal and unable to control himself, so the sweet, almost tentative moments Phoenix was aware of them sharing seemed more personal than they had with others.

#07 - One
"There was only ever one for me," Wright muttered, "One goal, I mean, one path-- of course I was going to become an attorney."

#08 - Thousand
"I've told you a thousand times," Phoenix muttered, "You disappear, Edgeworth, and I'm just going to spend the rest of my life looking for you."

#09 - King
The furious rocking motions from the couch caused a reverberation in the office, and the King of Prosecutors trophy fell from the shelf, hitting the floor unnoticed by either Miles or Nick.

#10 - Learn
"Oh, there are plenty more things you have to learn," Edgeworth said slyly as he pulled up his zipper, "But I'd be more than happy to teach you them, Wright."

#11 - Blur
...and for a moment, he was lost; the complication with Gumshoe's unrequited affection didn't matter, the trial and the dodgy evidence didn't matter, the fact that he was going to need to use the elevator later that evening didn't matter, all that mattered was that Wright was holding him, kissing him, and making noises that made his head cloudy.

#12 - Wait
"Wait": It was that one word, that one choked-up, heart-felt, not-just-a-casual-acknowledgement which made Nick turn around in the rain and face Edgeworth-- "We need to talk."

#13 - Change
The judge noticed it: over the past few months, something had grown between the two-- maybe they were both growing up, realising that the elaborate dance in the courtroom was really all just theatrics, pomp and ceremony-- something had died; they no longer barely tolerated one another; they'd stopped entering the court room with eyes blazing and teeth bared-- anyone would have thought their heated exchanges were now suggestive of a private joke between them.

#14 - Command
"Tonight," Edgworth said in a completely controlled, deadpan manner as he handed Phoenix the giftwrapped box, "You're going to be wearing this."

#15 - Hold
"Hold it!" Wright demanded, "If I didn't mean anything to you, why did you disappear from my life like that?"

#16 - Need
"I need this, Wright," Edgeworth murmured, clearly embarrassed, "I need something else intense and powerful to associate with being trapped in an elevator."

#17 - Vision
Seeing him there, snide and guarded and well-dressed, after all the years and unexplained mysteries, just before they were about to face one another off for the first day of the trial, Phoenix felt like he'd never, in the last fifteen years, stopped looking at Edgeworth, only now he was confronted with the reality and not an imaginary figure.

#18 - Attention
"Wright, get out of here now," Miles grumbled, shoving Nick away from him--"I happen... to have... a trial... tomorrow... and with you... being here... it's not getting the attention it deserves..."

#19 - Soul
It was uncertain and unexpected and as fragile and unfathomable and untouchable as a laser beam, but Wright suspected this was what happened when you became involved with an unquiet soul.

#20 - Picture
"A picture, Wright?" Miles called from his study, "You want me to come and see a picture someone's apparently drawn of us that's on the Internet?"

#21 - Fool
"Don't try and make excuses, Wright: you're a fool-- particularly if you quite sincerely believe that you do in fact love me," Edgeworth sneered from his desk.

#22 - Mad
"Of course I'm mad!" Edgeworth raged, "My life-- and career-- were going along very smoothly and successfully for the past fifteen years, and then you reappeared."

#23 - Child
"You're such a child, Phoenix-- you pout and seethe and everything's on the surface with you including your sometimes innocence and utter stupidity," Edgeworth chided playfully, "And it can be nothing short of adorable sometimes."

#24 - Now
Fifteen years ago, they'd been friends, and now, Edgeworth was using his intelligence and snark against him.

#25 - Shadow
"I never said I wanted a shadow, Wright," Miles sneered as Phoenix hovered behind him, adjusting his cravat as he dressed for court-- "But I rather like it"-- was the part he left unsaid.

#26 - Goodbye
"I thought you said goodbye," Phoenix smirked, abruptly stopping the kisses-- "You didn't want to see me ever again, if I recall correctly."

#27 - Hide
It's only in his office where he can truly hide from the world, beneath the veil of heavy dark curtains, with the lights out, a cup of tea, and Wright not seeing just how much he needs him which is written all too obviously on his face.

#28 - Fortune
"Can you imagine..." began Phoenix, his fingertips lazily trailling through Edgeworth's hair, "If they knew what was going on between us and they became obsessively interested-- like you get about things, Edgeworth-- and they created an entire franchise devoted to our story and how everything unfolded and..."--"They could make a fortune," Miles finished the sentence with.

#29 - Safe
He knew it would never, could never last, that what they had was so fraught with problems waiting to happen, trust waiting to be broken, egos waiting to be torn to pieces in the courtroom, but for now, Miles knew, in the darkness, in Wright's arms, under layers of bedding-- he was safe.

#30 - Ghost
"So you see Mia-- through Maya-- as a ghost?" Edgeworth asked before sighing softly and murmuring to himself, "Which I could talk to them, too."

#31 - Book
It was virtually impossible to concentrate on the dry language and legalese in a heavy volume when you were studying and couldn't quite shake the idea that all this would lead to seeing him again because of it.

#32 - Eye
"By lord-- is that...?" Edgeworth withdrew his hand in horror and stared at Phoenix aghast-- "You really need to find something better to do with evidence than carry it around on the oft chance that you might get to show it to someone and they'll help you... a normal man would think being presented with an eye is rather disturbing."

#33 - Never
"Only this once," Phoenix said through frantic kisses, hands furiously grabbing at bits of clothing which might have been loose enough to remove in the heat of the moment-- "It doesn't mean anything-- we're just-- you're just-- we're just after some release-- that's all-- it'll never mean anything, will it?"

#34 - Sing
"I don't sing," Edgeworth said, "It's... undignified--" --"And what you did to get Gant to falter wasn't?" Phoenix asked.

#35 - Sudden
The sudden movement against his leg was enough to make Edgeworth forget his resolve to get some sleep before work the next morning, and instead urge him to engulf Nick in a warm embrace and the assurance that once more would be perfectly fine.

#36 - Stop
The elevator ground to a sudden halt and Phoenix felt his heart racing, worried about Edgeworth's reaction-- until he saw large hands positioned over the emergency stop button, and heard and felt soft low words in his ear-- "I think I'm ready to take you up on your idea, Wright."

#37 - Time
Phoenix never knew if time creeped by slowly when they lay there, silent in the darkness like this, or if it in fact sped up-- but he did know when Edgeworth made a move to get dressed for work, it always seemed too soon.

#38 - Wash
"Wright, since you've opened the door and barged in here, you might as well stay and wash my back... and other things..."

#39 - Torn
"No one has ever left my clothing in such a state," Edgeworth said disapprovingly, glancing at the shirt which he'd somehow have to explain to the tailor, "I should ask you to take care of that one, Wright."

#40 - History
"I'll find him, Larry," Phoenix said with grim determination, "I don't care if you think it's a stupid idea-- one day I'll see him in court and I'll get my answer from him-- even if in doing so, it completely changes the course of my life."

#41 - Power
Hating to admit it, Phoenix was well aware that even tied up, blindfolded and gagged, lying in front of him, waiting for anything to happen or nothing at all, Edgeworth still had the power in this situation.

#42 - Bother
Trials were becoming increasingly difficult for Miles; he wanted to hear Phoenix screaming, slamming, and unruffled, but he wanted his body to be causing it, not just his words and arguments.

#43 - God
"For someone who states they're an atheist, you certainly mention God a lot," Nick blathered on despite Miles' lack of amusement, "Unless, of course, you're referring to yourself while you're climaxing... but even you aren't that arrogant."

#44 - Wall
"When your back's against the wall, you know that no one can come up behind you," Edgeworth murmured softly, "And the sex can be pretty good, too."

#45 - Naked
It was funny, Phoenix thought-- you could be wearing nothing but a pair of socks, and you could be kneeling at the crotch of a man who'd merely unzipped his fly-- yet watching that moment when he lost all control, when his body stiffened and shuddered and his head was thrown back-- you had a strange sense that you weren't the one who was completely exposed.

#46 - Drive
"You actually have some drive and motivation when you want to achieve something, don't you?" Edgeworth sneered, arm draped over the defense attorney, the first casual physical contact they'd have in over fifteen years-- "You have no idea how much," Phoenix whispered into the pillow next to him.

#47 - Harm
"You're not going to come to any harm, Edgeworth," Phoenix pleaded, stroking the other man's shoulder lightly, "Not by my hand and not by anyone else's while you allow me to remain in your life."

#48 - Precious
Much as Phoenix hated to admit it, cheap and lonely as it often made him feel in the aftermath,
those rare moments of seeing Edgeworth lost, in another place and unshakably ecstatic-- were precious.

#49 - Hunger
There was no hiding the flush in his face and the slight smile as he tried to defend himself with: "It's not a date, Wright: I... would like to go out and get some dinner, anyway... The spiced fish guts on offer at lunch today didn't appeal to me and as a result, I went hungry... and I still am."

#50 - Believe
"You need to believe in people-- you need to drop the defenses and let people in and believe in them, Edgeworth-- hell knows I've spent enough time believing in you!"-- those were the last words Miles heard that afternoon, and they were followed by an abruptly slammed hotel door.
