Title; Dog, You're Barking on the Wrong Side of the Tree House
Fandom; Drake & Josh
Pairing; Drake/Josh
Theme set; Delta
Rating; PG13
Warning; Slash, barely, at the end. Crackish? Use of one bad word!
Summary; Josh and Drake got stuck, basically. Oh dear.
Notes; SOO... here's how I did this. I printed out the prompts, cut 'em out, put 'em in a hat, and drew them one by one. And this is the order I drew them in. Just because I'm lame and wanted to do something crazy that would make me hate myself. Hahah. But either way, this is set in the "Tree House" Episode (Season 4, Episode 10), after the tree house falls down at the end. So they're in a fallen tree house, almost completely dark, parents and neighbors out, and Megan not helping at all. Enjoy. :)
Begins.
09. Drink;
"Oh man, I'm thirsy," Josh said, sitting in the should-be wall of the tree house, but not wanting to mention the situation.
48. Welcome;
It seemed only the silence welcome him, his step-brother's pacing the only thing interrupting this greeting.
25. Light;
"Just be glad it's not completely dark," Drake said after a long moment, referring to the small light seeping through whatever cracks they could, only to be responded with a mumbled, "yet."
05. Coffee;
"I wonder where they even went," Drake mused, pausing in his step, and laughing to himself, "Your dad's probably drowning himself in coffee or something."
03. Beginning;
Well, Josh thought, ignoring the comment about his dad, being partially trapped in a tree house just wasn't enough apparently; they had to be completely trapped; oh, how this would bring lovely new levels to their friendship.
37. Snakes;
As the light started to ease away, a strange sound was heard, and Drake was the first to jump up, "What was that?! It sounded like snakes."
16. Flying;
Josh rolled his eyes, slumped against the wall, and picked up the pencil fortunately nearby him; it flew right out of his hand and toward Drake's paranoid head.
06. Dark;
"What was that?" he shouted back, his body cut off the main source of light so Josh's face was covered in darkness and Drake almost felt like side-stepping just to see his step-brother's expressions.
11. Earth;
"You-hoo! Drake, this is Earth speaking, do you read me, over?" Josh waved a hand in front of the other's face as he started to daydream; they both had spent far too long in this horrible constriction of walls, hungry, thirsty, and terribly bored.
12. End;
"This has got to end," Drake said with finality, after playing a game of gold fish with imaginary cards (which wasn't going anywhere), "We need to get out of here."
43. Summer;
As Drake leaned back, hands keeping him supported behind him, Josh felt his hands drop his invisible cards and go to undo the top buttons of his shirt -- the only explanation being that in this small area with two grown boys sitting right next to each other it was bound to get a little to warm.
20. Green;
"I spy with my little eye," they were definitely running out of things to keep them entertained, "something green," to which the immediate response was "there's nothing green around here except the... Oh, the little pieces of grass sticking through the wood."
28. New;
Looking at his step-brother something odd seemed to burn Josh's skin, broil his intestines, warm his face, and constrict his throat; it was definitely not a new sensation though; he could familiarize it with how he first felt with Mindy, and in the darkness Drake could be anyone in the world, he just had to keep telling himself that.
36. Secret;
"Hey, can I ask you a question?" Josh said, and continued after getting the affirmative, "It's kind of personal, though. I promise to keep it a secret though, so you can, tell me, and yeah."
41. Stable;
Drake, never being one for concentrating on one thing (unless girls and making out), said, "Sure, shoot," while thinking, This would've been a perfect place to keep Baaahb; sheep stay in wood-house-things, right?
22. Hollow;
Josh sucked in a slow breath, trying to even out his voice in his mind, too bad it came out more hollow than anything, "Have you ever, kind of, liked someone that wasn't a girl?"
29. Old;
"You mean like an old woman?" Drake asked almost instantly.
49. Winter;
Josh paled, the earlier burning sensation disappearing to be replaced with an odd internally feeling, like wintertime in his stomach, "No, like a guy?"
40. Spring;
Drake seemed to spring to life at that, eyes wide and face animated, "You mean am I gay?"
02. Apples;
As he talked, Josh was able to moreso envision his step-brother's face than see it, and he could imagine the Adam's apple moving up and down when Drake spoke, and responded, "Not necessarily, just a crush."
33. Rain;
Drake sputtered, head leaned forward to look at the still-seated Josh, and spat out, "Why would you think that?"
31. Poison;
The sheer incredulous tone sounded like death to Josh; like words of a lethal dose being shoved into his brain; like poison dripping down his throat, "Could you just answer the question?"
44. Taboo;
Josh knew it was one of those "against the society-law" things, and he knew it wasn't widely accepted, but when Drake wouldn't answer him -- wouldn't even look at him -- his mind practically commanded him to open his mouth and slowly get his words out, "I'm not gay, or anything, I mean I really wanted to go on this date tonight, but I think I could, you know, like a guy, and I wanted to know if you've ever felt like this?"
47. Water;
It was one of those times Drake couldn't meet his step-brother's eyes; he felt like he was drowning, or maybe just suffocating, but he was up to his head in this strange feeling, and he had no reply to voice to Josh.
39. Solid;
With a firm voice -- one that never cracked, never falter, never sounded absolutely ridiculous -- Drake answered, "I don't think so," and Josh couldn't tell if he was lying or not.
50. Wood;
Josh had been slowly leaning toward Drake, but when those words met his ears he slumped against the wall like before, the wood rigid against his back, and fiddled with his hands, eyes watching them with the utmost attention, focusing only on the connection between him and the wood on his back.
13. Fall;
"So, what?" Drake said, uncertain and awkward in the long span of silence, "Did you like fall for this guy, or something?"
45. Ugly;
Reality reared its ugly head, and while this was not love it was bound to be rejected, "Doesn't matter, I'll never tell him, and he'd never feel the same."
18. Foot;
Drake sat down in front of his step-brother, the shoes of their feet barely touching, eyes searching for the other's; he wasn't about to reach over and touch Josh, so he uttered a soft, "Hey."
01. Air;
He could swear all the molecules in the air were against him as he looked up to meet Drake's gaze, a light blush hidden by the lack of light, and found it was actually easier to breath around him.
34. Regret;
"Maybe you should just, like, tell him," Drake advised, "I mean, you never know, he could like you too; I don't normally promote gay guys, but wouldn't you regret it more if you never said anything than if you just got rejected?"
42. Strange;
It was downright odd to hear those type of words come out of Drake's mouth, and a smile tugged at Josh's lips as he nodded a little, "Maybe, but how would I say it?"
21. Head;
"I don't know," Drake said, he was never really the brainiac, even when it came to relationships, "Just get him alone, and if you can't say it, just kiss him, I guess, it'd probably be easier to do that."
30. Peace;
Josh could just imagine it: kissing this guy smack on the lips and coming out of it alive; there was no such peace between a casanova and a male that had the hots for him, Josh would probably come out with a bunch of bruises, or splinters, considering the current situation.
27. Metal;
"Easier?!" Josh exclaimed, "He'd probably take the closest metal thing and bash my head in."
24. Hope;
"You never know," was his only response, and somehow it gave him a little hope that maybe his crush would be more reasonable if Josh were to just lean over and kiss him.
26. Lost;
"C'mon, don't look so lost," Drake interrupted his thoughts, "I've seen you kiss Mindy, so it's not like you don't know how; even though you two look like starved dogs when you get at it."
17. Food;
"I was just thinking about possibly making you dinner for being a nice guy, but now the mood's ruined and I've lost my appetite!" Josh jiggled his head back and forth as he talked, a trademark of his.
07. Despair;
"Ah, don't say that," his step-brother whined, only to be shot with a look of despair, "Now I'm hungry..."
35. Roses;
Josh laughed at Drake before wondering if there was any other way; he was a bit of a romancer, but he doubted boys wanted to be wooed like girls do, so that ruled out things like chocolates, cards, roses, or nighttime songs.
38. Snow;
On the other hand, was there anything he could say to get his crush to possibly like him more -- Mindy had always liked it when he referred to her as snow, cold and challenging at first, but exciting, fun, and beautiful once you opened your eyes to really see it.
19. Grave;
"Ah, who am I kidding," he muttered to himself, catching Drake's attention, "I'm just digging my own grave here."
15. Flexible;
Not knowing what to say, he tried to just play it friendly and hope Josh didn't get even more upset, "Well, my schedule's pretty flexible, so if he does reject you, we can do something to take your mind off of it?"
23. Honor;
It was a nice gesture, sweet even, one of those "I'm so honored" or "Hug me, brother!" moments, because Drake was always doing something, whether it was hooking up, breaking up, or chilling, and just thinking that Drake would entertain him if things went down the pipe made him smile, even if it was a sad one.
10. Duty;
As a new addition to the Nicols family and after getting so close to Josh they were undoubtedly best friends, Drake couldn't just leave him to mope around and feel all pitiful; just like it was his duty to make sure no girl was without a date if he could help it, it was his duty to make sure Josh wasn't sad if he could help it.
04. Bugs;
Josh watched an ant scurry by, strangely interested by it, before looking up and seeing Drake's eyes on him; the only thought he could blatantly understand was the idea to just lean in and kiss his only male crush.
32. Pretty;
As a girl, things like being pretty and physically appealing were important, but even when thinking of a boy, he somehow associated the same word; although "attractive" and "handsome" came up more often, Josh could only look at Drake and think that, if he were a girl, he'd be even more pretty than Mindy.
08. Doors;
With a smirk Josh realized Drake was sitting on the door that, had it been sawed, could've prevented this whole situation, "I think I'll go with your plan," he said clearly after a long silence before getting on his knees, throwing his hand to the side of Drake's neck, and smashing their lips together.
46. War;
It was tense, awkward, and unpleasant, but once Drake relaxed and allowed himself to be kiss, even kissed back, it got better; a tongue swept into the other's mouth, declaring war on the other muscle, and Josh couldn't stop himself from pulling back and saying, with passion, "Oh, it's on!"
14. Fire;
But before Josh reconnected their lips, he caught sight of Drake's bewildered and uncertain gaze and knew his own must be something akin to blazing fire; he smiled and said, "Well, you said if I was rejected you'd still entertain me," the comment eliciting a laugh from Drake as he barely replied, "I never rejected you," and the fiery battle began.
Ends.
Notes: Holy shit. Lame, much? Hahah.
