Rating: PG-13
Author’s notes: After the end of Proven Guilty, Morgan has been captured by the Red Court. Harry, being the noble idiot that he is goes after him-despite everything he doesn’t want to see someone else to be infected by them. Not after he lost Susan. So, he goes after his ally semi enemy.

3. Beginning: It had all started when Morgan had gotten knocked out in battle with the vampires-Harry had been there too, but as always ‘somehow’ escaped.

18. Foot: Donald Morgan, Warden of the White Council, was bound hand and foot in the dungeon of the Red Court.

4. Bugs: A roach or some kind of beetle crawled over the Warden’s face, making him shudder.

1. Air: The air in the cell had begun to close in on him; he was going to be changed and made into a monster.

7. Despair: Despair made his heart pound faster despite his calm demeanor; had he his sword, he would have fallen on it.

12. End: “That’s it, this is the end-I’m going to die a monster-probably by Dresden’s hand!”

6. Dark: It was about then that a calm voice spoke from the darkness, “I’m here to rescue you-and brought something to eat.”

11.Earth: Harry Dresden, thorn in Morgan’s side since day one, stepped seemingly through the wall of earth and stone.

45. Ugly: Donald gave Harry a very, very dirty look when he came in

48. Welcome: “You’re welcome, after all we are allies, you know,” Harry said dryly then held up what he was holding.

17. Food: “I assume they weren’t feeding you so I brought you a bit of stuff that I could sneak in.”

19. Grave: Morgan’s gaze became grave as he stared at Harry and he said quietly, “I believe this is the first time I am glad to see you-did you say food?”

5.Coffee: “First, the nectar of the gods-Hot Coffee, drink up.”

2.Apples: “I’ve got a few apples as well; that’s all I could sneak in, but you know it’s not drugged so….”

9. Drink: “Look, just drink and eat this stuff before we go you’ll need the energy; and yes, I’ve got your sword.”

8. Doors: The younger Warden knelt by the doors, fiddling with a tiny piece of metal in the lock.

10. Duty: “Shouldn’t you be doing your duty, by your student, Dresden?”

13: Fall: “Or is it that she has already fallen to the darkness that I know consumes you both?”

14: Fire: “Hellfire and Brimstone, Morgan, are you not accepting the help because it’s from me or are you really that much of an idiot!?”

15. Flexible: Harry glared, still working at the lock, his nimble fingers twisting the pick until there was a tiny click.

16. Flying: Now that he was free, Morgan sent a fist flying at Harry’s jaw-the lanky wizard took the blow in angry silence.

39. Solid: It connected solidly, and Harry rubbed his jaw lightly.

49. Winter: “Dresden, is it true that the Winter Queen seeks you for her new Knight?”

50. Wood: “Yeah, so what, I’m not interested in living in her forest and all that-don’t seek the power really either.”

37. Snakes: “You are a snake, a scum, Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden,” Morgan said with a cold laugh on the power comment.

43. Summer: “I am not the same boy you held a blade on the summer I was sixteen”

23. Honor: “You have no honor anyhow, Dresden, why are you doing this, I have been as close an enemy as any ally can be!”

19. Grave: “I am doing this Morgan, because like my tombstone says I will die doing the right thing-the stupid thing maybe, but the right thing.”

20. Green: Morgan sipped the scalding hot coffee and took a bite of the apple, making a face at the sourness-Granny Smith.

47. Water: Harry washed off the worst of Morgan’s wounds while he ate.

35. Roses: “Now all I need is roses, wine and some candlelight and there may be some hope of escape, Dresden.”

34. Regret: “I regret not having flowers-or wine-“ Harry grinned wickedly, evident in the dark.

24. Hope: “However, where’s there’s light there’s hope as Bilbo’s father used to say and I just happen to have a glow stick.”

22. Hollow: Morgan gave a hollow laugh, “I do not believe Tolkien was referring to a…toy such as that.”

25. Light: “Hey, don’t knock it. It works-flashlights are iffy and magic could easily be detected.”

40. Spring: “Got it-“ Harry said softly pulling the pick from the now sprung lock, “Hmmm…there might be a tiny problem.”

27. Metal: The metal around the door was badly rusted so it would squeak when opened.

31. Poison: “Let me guess, we take poison and kill ourselves before they can kill us-we can’t get out that door!”

28. New: “New plan, yes-poison….not so much, just watch-” Harry rubbed some sort of oil on the hinges which swung open soundlessly: “And learn.”

33. Rain: Rain was splattering on the roof of the Beetle as they ran to it and got in.

32. Pretty: The man behind the wheel was disturbingly beautiful-as any of the White Court Vampires were: Morgan was appalled-he’d not thought even Dresden would stoop so low.

26. Lost: Of course the older wizard completely lost it, swearing to kill all three of them-Harry, the vampire and Harry’s apprentice.

46. War: “We are at war and you have a vampire for your Gorram chaffer, by Merlin’s beard, are you insane?”

29. Old: “Morgan, calm down, this is Thomas, my older half brother-hadn’t intended to have you meet but…well, he offered to help.”

30. Peace: “Like he said….I come in peace, Warden…besides I’m not strictly speaking White Court-they threw me out.”

36. Secret: “ That is your big secret-that your mother…good lord…Margaret and Lord Raith…” He seemed quite pole-axed.

42. Strange: Though after a long moment of thought, Donald didn’t find it all that strange, she had after all been a lovely woman.

41. Stable: “Morgan, I wonder more often now then ever if you are entirely stable.”

38. Snow: The rain had become snow and Thomas ordered the others to shut up so he could drive.

44. Taboo: “Morgan-did you earlier say Gorram-because a wizard liking science fiction I thought was strictly taboo.”
