When they see a star and Cliff tells him to make a wish, Albel scoffs and says he doesn’t believe in wishes.

It’s a wonder that Cliff hasn’t lost an eye yet, although Albel keeps insisting it will happen within the next hour.

It’s hard not to worry about Albel, but it’s even harder to worry when he won’t let you.

The first time is on a whim, but when Albel ignores him the next morning Cliff swears the second time certainly won’t be.
07. Waste/Wasteland
Aeriglyph is nothing more than buildings and people, cracked and broken, held together by ice and the will of a king, and Albel is glad to leave it behind.

Cliff can down shot after shot (he claims Mirage is the only one who can out drink him), but Albel has never tried alcohol, and it’s a hell of a time until Albel wakes up with a hangover.

Albel likes war, and Cliff hates it; the fact that they balance out is his excuse for bringing Albel the Wicked with him to volatile peace talks.
10. Weddings
On the night of the king’s wedding, Cliff mentions off handedly that Albel would look great in a wedding dress; he should have been expecting the knee to his groin.
11. Birthday
Albel doesn’t believe in celebrating his birthday, but after years of Cliff leaving a small wrapped package on their bed each time it comes, he grudgingly gives a Bunny carcass in return on Cliff’s fortieth (Cliff finds this endearing; everyone else finds it disturbing).
12. Blessing
Mirage finally gives her blessing, but only after demanding what the hell Cliff was thinking, he’ll only get hurt in the end, and who does he think Albel the Wicked is?
13. Bias
It might be bias, but Cliff thinks Albel can pull a skirt off better even than Nel; when he tells Albel this, Albel tells him stiffly it isn’t a skirt before trying to ram his sword up somewhere painful.
14. Burning
When he dreams, Albel feels as if he’s burning burning burning, but Cliff’s touch is cool to his skin, even though he’ll never admit it (Cliff knows anyway, but he won’t let Albel know that either).
15. Breathing
Sometimes in the middle of night Albel has to check if Cliff is still breathing, because he knows that everyone close to him will eventually die and leave him behind.

Cliff knows that Albel will have to break before he can be put back together, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less when it comes and he realizes he isn’t the one meant to pick up the pieces.
17. Belief
Albel doesn’t believe in gods, only himself, but a part of him he won’t acknowledge might believe a bit in Cliff too.
18. Balloon
Fayt insists that Albel help decorate the wedding hall, and Cliff can only agree after watching Albel pop balloon after balloon with that claw and a terribly confused look on his face.

On a night of particularly heavy drinking Cliff climbs up a balcony and declares that he’s a prince here to whisk his princess away; Albel shoves him off.

Despite being told time and time again that he’s the bane of Albel’s existence, Cliff knows that Albel only lies when it’s most important.

It’s only when Albel is quiet while Cliff screams that Cliff knows he’s really hurt his lover.

It takes nearly five years for Albel to answer the question Cliff asked on the day they first fell into bed together; he lost his arm due to a dragon, and his father lost his life due to that same dragon.

They argue nearly every hour of the day, but after so long it doesn’t mean anything at all.

Cliff isn’t the sort to give up, and when Albel pushes him away for the sixth time he only laughs and tells himself that seven will be the lucky number.

Cliff enjoys watching Albel win (unless it’s against him), if only to see that smirk.

Hate springs from sorrow, and it is only when Cliff realizes this that he takes a second look at Albel Nox.

There are rumors floating around about the love affairs of Albel the Wicked, but when Cliff pushes Albel against the wall and Albel’s eyes widen, he knows they’re all false.

Albel is cold in his grave, he took one risk too many, and Cliff downs a whiskey and mutters into the night.

Sometimes Cliff asks to stop for a rest, and Albel is grateful, though he claims he doesn’t need it.

“You don’t have to be alone,” Cliff says, and Albel feels something inside of him shatter.

Albel didn’t think there was anywhere he belonged, until he met a certain blond Klausian-of course, at that point, “where he belonged” was holding a blade through that Klausian’s throat.

Black is always a perfectly neutral color, but Albel will wear nothing but brash violet.

It’s the subtle nuances that one has to look for when Albel speaks, and if Cliff has ever been good at anything, it is noticing the details other people miss.

Even with his chest pressed against Albel’s back, Cliff realizes with a pang that he isn’t really any closer than Sophia clear across the room.

There is nothing natural about Albel, from his hair to his clothes, and this only makes him all the more interesting.

Cliff’s fist catches him across the temple, and as he tumbles down to the ground and Cliff leans down to take his prize, Albel thinks hazily that this is one defeat he doesn’t mind at all (though he'll never let the idiot know that).
