Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Pairing: Sokka x Yue
Theme Set: Alpha
Rating: G through PG-13 (for mentions of sex, death, and feminine problems)

#01 - Comfort
Even as Sokka pinched his nose to stem the bleeding (Hahn had some bony fists), he couldn’t help but give a half smirk- he had the luxury of knowing that even though Hahn was more handsome, more charming, and probably a better warrior, Yue had still passed that jerk over for him.
#02 - Kiss
Sokka usually accumulated a few cuts and bruises from warrior training during the day; it became Yue’s job to kiss every one of them to make them better.
#03 - Soft
He loved her hands; they were soft, smooth, and fit perfectly in his.
#04 - Pain
He hoped that her death had been painless- she didn’t deserve to suffer for doing her duty; his prayer was half-granted: letting him go was what had hurt her the most.
#05 - Potatoes
She had never tasted potatoes before he offered her the dried skins from his pack, for it was far too cold in her tribe to grow such things- so she accepted his rapid apologies with a weak smile as he held her hair back, keeping it vomit-free; after all, how could they have known she was allergic?
#06 - Rain
She found him in the streets (for he had been looking for her as well) and even in her panic, she couldn’t help but think that as he stood there with a grimly determined countenance, with fire raining from the sky behind him, that she had never seen a more heroic sight.
#07 - Chocolate
They had discovered early on that they shared an addiction for hot cocoa, so it was only natural that one of their ‘activities’ was spending hours together in the palace kitchen mixing dozens of ingredients together to find the perfect recipe.
#08 - Happiness
To them, happiness was a person, not a state of mind.
#09 - Telephone
He’d always hated the messenger game when his troops had begged him to play it back home (what use do warriors have for games? he had asked), but he gained a new appreciation of the diversion one afternoon while playing with his companions- you’d be surprised at how having the love of your life whisper in your ear could change your opinion of something.
#10 - Ears
Never in their relationship had she been able to sneak up on him; he said it was his warrior instincts- she said it was his elephant ears.
#11 - Name
He had called her ‘princess’ for a grand total of four days (formality was hard to forget) until she quite frankly told him that if he addressed her by anything other than Yue ever again she would stuff that boomerang down his throat and never speak to him again.
#12 - Sensual
They were only able to sneak a few romantic moments (brushing hands at dinner and quick, stolen kisses in dark alleys) but that just made the moments all the more electrifying.
#13 - Death
He grieved, he accepted, he moved on- if he had done any other, he would have gone mad; but still, on the nights when sleep eluded him he would stare up at the moon and wonder ‘what if?’
#14 - Sex
He didn’t know what scared him the most about the idea of sex with Yue- the fact that her father would probably have him ice-speared if he ever found out; or the fact that she might not enjoy it.
#15 - Touch (continuation of #23)
“This,” he said to Aang, pointing at his black eye, “is why a gentleman always keeps his hands to himself.”
#16 - Weakness
Sokka groaned inwardly as Yue pouted at him; obviously Katara had let her in on the secret that he could never say no to a pair of pleading blue eyes.
#17 - Tears
The moon has always had a pull on water; Sokka guesses that’s why the full moon is the only thing that can make him cry so hard.
#18 - Speed
They whoop like maniacs as they careen madly down the snow slopes about a mile from the city; they had both been denied the joy of penguin sledding in their childhoods.
#19 - Wind
A sharp breeze at her back makes her close the last few inches between them; closing her eyes, she doesn’t see Sokka give a thumbs-up to the young monk behind her.
#20 - Freedom
He holds Yue as she cries, right there on the bridge (what else could he do?) and Sokka silently promises himself that, no matter how much he doesn’t want to, he’ll give Katara the liberty of finding her own husband.
#21 - Life
“I want a life that is mine,” she sobs into her father’s chest; it kills him inside to know that he can’t give it to her.
#22 - Jealousy
Sokka had never been jealous of Aang (that had always been Katara’s territory)- but he did feel the slightest twinge of envy when he learned that the Avatar and the Ocean Spirit had had the pleasure of avenging Yue, rather than him (a shame, really: he would have enjoyed venting his anger on that fire scoundrel).
#23 - Hands (prelude to #15)
He had panicked the first time they kissed with true passion; he was completely clueless as to where he should put his hands, so he grabbed the first thing (or things, rather) he could find- she didn’t hesitate at all before slapping him senseless.
#25 - Devotion
Iroh could not help but be amazed by the devotion he had seen that night- the girl’s to her father, and the boy’s to her.
#26 - Forever
“We can’t keep this up forever,” he reminds her one night; she secretly agrees, but that doesn’t mean she won’t try.
#27 - Blood
Timing was everything in conversation; for example, if Sokka hadn’t walked in as Yue was complaining to Katara about how she always bled so darn much, he might have been spared having the joys and pains of the female cycle explained to him by his girlfriend and his sister.
#28 - Sickness
Yue had laughed insanely at Katara’s story of her and Sokka’s bout of illness; when she asked if they had really sucked frogs, the younger girl had replied with an evil grin, “Yes, and then he kissed you” and Yue thought she was the one coming down with something.
#29 - Melody
Sokka wasn’t much of a singer; but he would croon along with Yue if only to hear her dissolve into adorable giggles when his voice cracked on the high notes.
#30 - Star
Their wedding was a simple one; it was just them on the bridge, pledging their hearts to each other, with the moon as their minister and stars as their witnesses.
#31 - Home
After Sokka had gotten over the initial shocked awe that came with entering the great Northern Water Tribe, he had slipped into a state of unfounded pride for his home (surely they had been just as great once); but when he saw her, he had to admit that they didn’t make girls like that back at the South Pole.
#32 - Confusion
As he stood there kissing the princess, he couldn’t help but be amazed at how wonderful confusion could be.
#33 - Fear
Yue was almost ridiculously brave, but she had no trouble pretending to be frightened of a little rat if it meant she got to leap into her warrior’s arms for safety.
#34 - Lightning/Thunder
He hated lying about their relationship, especially to her father; he couldn’t shake the feeling that the spirits were about to strike him dead every time he did.
#35 - Bonds
She was completely aware that he was from far simpler roots than she- but she couldn’t help but be puzzled at his excitement over acquiring a length of ‘good rope.’
#36 - Market
They had taken up the habit of doing Cook’s shopping every week- Yue had connections and good taste, while Sokka had and eye for quality and bargains; they looked so right together- laughing and walking arm-in-arm with a basket apiece- that many an old widow sighed wistfully as the couple passed.
#37 - Technology
She smiled inwardly at his rapturous expression as Kato explained to them how waterbenders used the locks and dams worked to carry boats into the very heart of the city; it would be good to know that the mention of food wasn’t the only thing she could use to gain his attention.
#38 - Gift
Yue was royalty, so naturally she had been rather doted upon her whole life; she found it strangely ironic, then, that her most treasured possession was a hand-carved bear fish thing.
#39 - Smile
Katara, young and naïve as she might be, was wise enough to know the real reason her brother went ‘out for some fresh air’ every night.
#40 - Innocence
Yue’s father thought she was a perfect little angel- sure, she spent more time than she used to in her room, giggling madly; and she smiled shyly at the Southern Boy quite often- but that was just how young people acted, right?
#41 - Completion
“We’re finally whole now,” she whispers weakly; Sokka looks down at the blue eyed bundle of fur in his arms and can’t help but agree.
#42 - Clouds
One of their favorite games on the sunnier days was to lay on Appa’s fluffy tail and tell each other the shapes of the usually formless clouds; it went wonderfully until he stated that one particularly fluffy and odd shaped cloud looked like her hair (she promptly pushed him into the nearest snow bank).
#43 - Sky
They complimented each other, his dark to her light; looking back, it seemed fitting that his eyes were the deep blue of the ocean while hers were closer to the paler blue of the sky.
#44 - Heaven
Mother had always said the ones we love are watching over us from above- as he looks up at the full moon with tear-filled eyes, Sokka can’t decide whether to love or hate the irony.
#45 - Hell
She’s not worried about the future comfort of her soul as she places her hands on the now dead koi fish; no kind of torment could ever surpass what she has just put herself through.
#46 - Sun
Yue laid back into Appa’s saddle with her eyes closed (the glare off the ice was giving her a headache) and informed her lover that she refused to move for at least ten minutes; two seconds later, as he all but jumped on her, she sent a little prayer of gratitude to the sun spirit.
#47 - Moon
Sokka never knew which he hated more, the nights when her face was shining full in the sky (if he didn‘t know her better, he‘d say she was mocking him), or the nights when it was hidden from his view (he didn‘t like the idea of her face cast in shadow).
#48 - Waves
As Appa soars over the ocean, Sokka can easily relate to the waves below: they were both stuck in her irresistible pull- always reaching, never grasping.
#49 - Hair
Sokka had never liked his hairstyle that much- he only wore it for tradition's sake- but Yue loved that the little tuft in the back was just long enough to wrap around her finger.
#50 - Supernova
He’d heard the older boys in the village talk of their first kisses- hot and passionate, most had bragged- but he didn’t mind that his was cold as ice, enough to freeze him in the one moment of time with her forever.
