16/17 year old Harry has been living on the streets for almost a month, since his mother died in a car accident and he ran away from the custody of his abusive stepfather. Or something.

Louis, a university student, volunteers at the local soup kitchen once a week. Until Harry starts showing up, and once a week turns into every night.

Do what you want with it - maybe they become friends and Louis takes him home with him? And Harry doesn't want pity and he doesn't want Louis to stress out over him so he says no until Louis convinces him that it'll only be until he can get a job.

Love obviously ensues.

He stood with a slouch, almost natural as if he’d been built that way, his shoulders limp and head bent forward. Dampened with sweat, curls of hair stuck to his forehead and shaded the lower half of his face. He rarely looked up, only when he’d give a tender-hearted “thank-you” to whoever was passing him a fresh meal.

The next week, Louis found he was automatically scanning the faces in the hall and in the line to see if he could spot the boy again. Part of him hoped he wouldn't be there, that he would have given in and gone home. But then, he'd listened to enough of the centre's users telling their stories to know that for many, what they were running away from was worse than where they'd ended up.

Louis refused to acknowledge the selfish afterthought that if he never saw the boy again, part of him would always wonder what had happened to him.

He was halfway through service when he looked up into a familiar pair of eyes. Louis smiled in recognition, and the boy, surprised, smiled back instinctively.

"Hey," said Louis, and then stared at him, temporarily at a loss for something to say. This was ridiculous, he thought. He never ran out of things to say, talking was the one thing he was good at ( ... )

SUZIE. STOP IT. YOU CANNOT JUST WRITE ALL THE AUS AND MAKE THEM AMAZING. SOME OF US NEED TO GET LIVES AND SUCH AND NOT BE GLUED TO THIS MEME.
