Sweet Valley Saga II Magna Edition: The Wakefield Legacy: The Untold Story (Part One)

Nov 21, 2007 17:45

Here we go! The sequel to The Wakefields of Sweet Valley is sadly not as awesome as that book, and I spent much of my time reading this letting out gloomy sighs. I mean, I loved the last book. But this is like...you know when Rachel started dating Russ on Friends and everyone but her could see that Russ was just an even dorkier version of Ross, but ( Read more... )

Incidental note: I want to see an entire Sweet Valley book played out in cat macros.

That would SERIOUSLY be the most awesome thing ever.

I had a go at it myself! Unfortunately, it became extremely convoluted (I was trying to recap that Robin Wilson book, using the "I can has cheezburger?" cat as Robin. It was going to be so cool! But then I crashed and burned).

James gets angry and crashes his horse into a stone wall. He's thrown from the horse and dies instantly. Quick, check his punch-cup for traces of vodka!

LOLOLOL! Funny!

And yeah, I never understood why Sarah didn't just lie about her marriage.

I kinda of preferred this story to the Women's story. If for no other reason, the characters seemed more varied. In the women's story, I felt I was reading about the same set of people in different incarnations. The only character that was remotely unique was Samantha's daughter who worked in the French Resistance.

I think Sarah was totally awesome. I really loved the fact that she was still alive when Ned was born. Another character I totally hearted was Julia, Ted's wife. She and Ted were very Clark Kent & Lois Lane. I think she was a step up from boring, bookish Amanda.

Yes! I finished reading the book last night, and while it still didn't win me over, I really liked Julia. She wasn't afraid to go for what she wanted!

Julia was kick-ass. That play she made on Ted was one of the sexiest scenes I've read in a YA novel. :) I hope someone writes fan fiction about her.

This is because English people are cold-hearted and standoffish. It's all true/i>

Heh, totally true indeed!!

What I find annoying is all the sets of twins! I mean, honestly!!! *rolls eyes for good measure*

Bring on #2....

I know, right? It makes sense that Alice's family has lots of twins as that's biolgically likely, but why throw in the random character of James, Sarah's twin, here? He's not even important to the story!

Actually it doesn't make sense that Alice's family has a lot of identical twins. Identical twins are totally random. The ability to have fraternal twins though is passed on through the women. (So Ted didn't get that gene and pass it on... which sort of makes sense).

I am impressed by your knowledge of Victorian literature and Yorkshire. A+++, would mock again.

Well, all my comments about Yorkshire were gathered from Wikipedia, so obviously they could be completely wrong. :P But thanks!
