Wow, I remember reading #39 and wondering what happened... Now I know! Seriously, reading the previous book was kind of traumatic for a thirteen year old... I remember most of the book was concerned with whether or not Tim and Liz would have HOT HOT SEX.
I just think its funny that he thinks that if he goes with her to NY he'll get the sex. I mean, that is essentially like when jerkoff guys take you out to a really really nice dinner and buy you something expensive and expect sex. Which is sleazy, but Tom makes it all "Oh, I just wanted to take our relationship to the next LEVEL *moancrywhine*"
There always seems to be angst about her sex life while she flirts with some other guy who isn't her boyfriend. To me, if she's so worried about whether or not he's "the right one," or whatever, she'd possibly not throw herself at any guy who ever looks her way.
Yeah. Every time she goes away there's another guy and she always seems to end up stealing forbidden kisses and it's stupid *is fond of Todd, despite the violence*
I don't know; she never gave a very clear reason, but apparently they kept getting really close and then she'd be like "No, I'm not ready" and he'd be all frustrated. Gah.
Sweet Valley really is one of the craziest things ever created. I wonder how I got away with reading this when I was like, 10. My mom really didn't pay attention to that.
I'm lucky that my mother operated 'if she's old enough to ask, she's old enough to know' kind of view - I read a book about teenage pregnancy when I was ten that included the phrase 'made love' and I remember lots of people being Very Shocked. (the book was Berlie Doherty's 'Dear Nobody' if you're interested. Mum did try to talk me out of reading it but I read it anyway and loved it so on that occasion she was wrong that I wouldn't understand).
Though, I watched 'Red Dwarf' when I was ten and again when I was fifteen, and when I watched it at fifteen I was all 'OMG! This is SO DIRTY!!!!' because a good bit of the humour is sexual, but in no way all so I was able to find the whole thing very funny indeed at age 10 without understanding any sex jokes at all. So I think that basically, unless it's blatantly obvious, kids just miss anything that they aren't ready to understand.

Jess had sex with Mike, who had a motorcycle, about three days after she got to college, didn't she? And then she married Mike, but he was violent so she got it annuled, and then Mike tried to shoot Steven but Steven shot him, and then Mike was paralyzed but then he got unparalyzed and hooked up with Liz.
Um. I think.
Liz stayed a virgin, I'm pretty sure. Of course she did. Or she lost her virginity in the series that came after SVU, maybe. I never read it, though.

Crikey, it's atrocious - uni students don't "make love", they "have sex" ;-)
Did Liz and/or Jess end up popping their cherries? I know other characters did, but I can't remember.
Thanks for the recap, and have a lovely day! :-)
