Little facts & such!

So, sometime last year I started rereading SVH, and I guess I wanted to bookmark little things along the way. Completely forgot about it until I was reorganizing the small bookcase I keep my SVHs and SVUs on, when I found a few books that had a page or two dog-eared ( Read more... )

"Jessica tried to be friends with Enid first!"

That's nuts. I don't remember that at all!!

The only thing I can come up with (completely from my memory bank) is: -Sweet Valley Kids, Jessica hates the class hamster initially; later on the twins were (for one whole book) completely obsessed with a TV veterinarian, and both twins were said to "love animals".
-In the Twin's series, Jessica is "terrified" of dogs, and in (I think it's Sneaking Out) she watches that old ladies dog. When she goes to get the dog, Liz comes with her and keeps a hold of the leash so Jess doesn't flip out or something.
-In SVH, she is adamant about keeping Prince Albert (of course she is) and throughout the rest of the series, he's referred to as "Jessica's dog".

Neat thread!

Jessica also tries to adopt a bear cub in a SVT book. (Sort of, it was one of the spinoffs that wasn't really a spinoff, kind of like a Super Special.) I had not remembered the hamster thing from SVK, but I did remember the book where they were obsessed with a TV vet.

Is that the rather awesome book in which it's revealed that Bruce has a fear of birds?

And nitpicky, perhaps, but at the end of the arrest Margo strangles someone in Houston for her train ticket. At the beginning of the next book, she's thinking about how she strangled someone in Cleveland for her bus ticket. Uh.

Also, in the arrest, we're told that the jeep that Sam died in was restored and Jess was driving it. And the beginning of the next book, she's driving her moms car because the jeep hasn't been fixed?

Seriously, it's like the ghostwriter got drunk at their desk and wrote their own version and never went back to re-edit it. (It's amazing the little details you capture when you actually snark a book.)

I read a SY that mentioned Jessica got motion sickness if she read in cars. I know this is fairly common, but as someone that would die if I couldn't read in cars (it makes me want to cry at the thought) I'm always fascinated with how that works.

I envy you. I can't even read half a page, otherwise it's throw up city! Thank goodness for audiobooks.

I can't read in cars because it's so hard to concentrate. If I read I need 100% concentration, so the second someone turns on the radio (which is usually the second I've picked up a book) or starts talking, forget it.

Allow me to join into the motion sickness club. In a car, on a boat, it doesn't matter :(

Oh, Enid. kaisercydney February 3 2016, 03:10:59 UTC
I always thought the Enid thing was hilarious-- but seemed very in-character for Jessica.

The biggest "little" fact I remember was that Lila was actually the illegitimate child of Grace and...someone else! George married her when she was already pregnant and assumed responsibility for Lila.

This fact came from the back(non-plot) pages of one of the early books-- sort of a "get to know the characters" section. Does anyone else remember this?

I was reading some early e-books and you're right. Also, it mentions that Lila's mother visits occasionally or rarely. I can't remember how it's phrased. But in the amazing Evil Twin 8 part mini-series, she says she hasn't seen Grace since she was 2 and doesn't remember her.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this! And from reading through SVT as well as SVH, there is never any mention of Grace visiting. Maybe she couldn't get away from Pierre?

Exactly! And why on earth would Happy Mothers Day Lila ever have existed if Grace visited occasionally?

I'm snarking The Arrest right now and I've decided Pierre probably dies of dysentery because all he does in that book is complain about his digestion.

Yes I remember that and she wanted Todd but he went for Liz. This is the foundation of disk like for Liz's friends and boyfriends, they choose Liz over her. I guess sociopathy is too scary for most people!

I remember in the SVT series (The one based on Groundhog Day comes to mind) - (and confirmed in SVH) neither twin could sing, but I'm pretty sure there's an early SVT super special where they're on some sort of choir camp.... And could sing! 😱

I remember that, too.

I was so happy to find out that the Wakefield Twins actually sucked at something, but oops...they totally don't :D
