wtf happened to Ms. Otis
I don't know. But there is a book titled "Goodbye Mrs Otis" so I can only assume she died some horrible, grisly death.

So basically the twins screwed everything up at Alice's job (which is randomly not interior design?) and no one cares? How Sweet Valley.

... is it a US thing to take seven-year-olds to the workplace? Because it seems like it's asking for trouble to me.

My dad used to take me to his work when I was little, but he was an accountant and worked in an office, where I just sat and coloured. Or I typed on the computer when I got a bit older. But my mom didn't ever take me to her work, because her work had higher security, or something. (She told me about this when I asked her one time.)

I went to my mum's work on the odd occasion where, yes, I just sat and coloured, but it was usually just because I needed looking after and it was too inconvenient to do things another way. There wasn't any learning ethos behind it ^^
