I know! I couldn't believe it. I only found three things to snark about: Lila's bitchyness, Elizabeth and Steve being stupid enough to run with Jessica's theory and Susan and Jackson 'bonding' straight away... but even those were MINOR snarks compared to some other books.
And Lila, who overheard the invitation, now knows Gordon for the pig he is, and dumps him in front of everybody. Go Lila! Oh, phew. I'm glad Lila came back to being awesome there. I mean, of course she is one of the most important people in Sweet Valley and should go to the stupid party but it is mean to lie about random girls' parents being in prison.
The "Which one of you is in trouble?" thing is so special for so many reasons. Not only is it one of the few mentions of teen-age sex (or potential sex) in the book, but it's also framed by Aunt Helen's raising an illegitimate daughter alone, so it's not 100% out of the realm of possibility that an SVH student could be pregnant, slut or not. But it's also one of the only times that both Jess AND Liz are lumped together in potentially doing something (from the parents' perspective) "bad"; both the twins are as likely in their mother's eyes to be knocked up. Take THAT, goody goody Liz!
The crumbs, you guys. We have to take the crumbs in SVH.
