Once again, we're back at Sweet Valley Junior High, which is different from Sweet Valley Middle School in that...uh, there's Asians and Mexicans, I guess. Not just one-off, Manny- and Jade-style tertiary folk, either -- main characters who get to be featured in more than one book. It's called the early noughties, and you are most welcome to join ( Read more... )

Wow. It's interesting how the SV ghostwriters manage to make everyone insane.

Insane is your word. Me, I don't think insanity truly covers it. This book was just plain shit, and not funny/shit like a lot of the shit SV books. Regular old shit/shit.

I stopped reading at the very beginning of the West Side Story and Olympics Day storylines. I'm unsurprised but sad that they fell so flat :s

I've been meaning to recap the book where Olympics Day gets suggested! It's actually Bethel's idea, and Kristin has a meltdown over people liking someone else's ideas more than hers. Although I totally side with Kristin in that book. Olympics Day just seemed an athletics carnival but without a house system and with small teams. ie it's harder to get away with spending the day reading magazines. But isn't reading magazines and hanging out with friends what swimming/athletics carnivals were for?

So did I, actually; I couldn't stand to read about the SVJH kids wrecking such a classic as West Side Story. :(

Skimming over the last few paras, the dramaliciousness sure does seem to come out in spades. :O

It'll be news to Kristin that it was actually BETHEL who came up with the idea, because this book definitely insinuates that Kristin came up with it. Stupid Kristin.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaame. But your recap, of course, makes up for the lameness! And you did include a Titanic reference ftw! <3

But my fave:

Then Anna and Toby kiss for the first time, and Toby pretends he likes it while thinking of Neil Patrick Harris and man-purses.

*gigglesnort!*

It was just begging for a Titanic reference, really. The last SVJH book I did had a built-in Titanic reference, but this one was severely lacking.

I assume the title Drama Queen refers to Toby?
