For some reason, Liz convinces her to give Bruce a chance. Boy, if a guy tried to rape me I wouldn't recommend him to friends. But that's Elizabeth Wakefield for you; she's just so nice!

I always wanted to know why Bruce was never called out as bein a nasty rapist.

Great recap

I dunno. John (hiss!) gets a lot worse treatment. I guess because Liz was crazy that book it was okay to rape her?

I forgot all about this, and you're right-there is very little Bruce in it. What the hell?

And yes "Old Money" usually means more than two generations.

I dunno. It was weird because Lila's Story was entirely from her POV, I think. But Bruce's was just a little bit of him but mostly Roger and Tracy... I guess if we got in his head too much it would be too unpleasant.

But wasn't Lila's grandfather the one that started the Fowler fortune? If so, then it's exactly the same generation as the Patmans.

Edit: Someone further down who's read the legacy book said the Patman fortune was around long before Bruce's grandparents' generation anyway.

Delightful all around! And good luck to iriniaauthor! May you not have secrely married your husband only to have him get shot by your brother and then you annull it or something!

Hahahaha =D
I thoroughly enjoyed this review.
My favorite line by far was "That's what you get, mocky".
I was a big Sweet Valley reader myself (big as in, voracious, not enormously sized) and you pinpointed all the subtle, and not-so-subtle, little ridiculousnesses that make this series what it is. And what it is is shit. But it's shit made out of gold, and maybe that's why we can love it so many years after it's been out of print.

From memory, in the Patman Legacy book I think it was Bruce's great grandfther that made the fortune ( ... )

God, I hate my latop's keyboard.

Reggie II then had Reginald III (or Shred - this was some consistency with the TV series!) and Paul is Roger's dad.

That's so not the way this book makes their family sound. Although it might be vague continuity that in #103, which I am reading now, Bruce's father's name is Henry/Hank.
