You're right. It's not nice, it is funny, but I think Liz is exactly a bitter uptight virgin and someone needs to make her see that. I really don't feel sorry for her here, mostly because of the way she's making it all about her.
Everybody in this book needs therapy, not just Tom. Especially JESSICA. That shit is effed up.

Maybe it means that since she couldn't do manicures (because she had to keep her nails short) she really went to town on pedicures? *baffled shrug*
