In Which a Cute Little Dog Thaws My Icy Heart, or Sweet Valley Twins #27: Teamwork

I just bought this book at a library book sale for 25 cents. Bargain? Or rip off? You decide! Actually…I quite like the book, plot contrivances and all, and it may be my PMS talking, but the ending actually made me tear up a little. I’m a sucker for sappy animal stories, what can I say. I couldn't find a cover pic, but it shows Ken and Elizabeth ( Read more... )

I loved this book as a kid. Even though I thought it was incredibly stupid that they wouldn't think that this was something to tell their parents about.

There are about 20,000 SV plotlines in which all the angst just wouldn't have been necessary if they'd just told an authority figure the truth of what was going on. Or alternatively, told the person they had hidden feelings from what was going on. I thinK I've just obliterated 99% of SV plotlines now.

Wasn't there another dog related one that ended up with someone's ugly perm getting washed out in the rain? anyone? anyone?

Was that the one where Jessica wished on a star for Elizabeth to stop telling the truth?

Wow, dog abuse is pretty dark for a Sweet Valley book. I've gotta know, though--was there ever any mention of cleaning up after the dog while walking it? Or did it follow the tradition of YA lit and television by having dogs without digestive systems? Although Jessica's reaction to dog poop would be classic, in my opinion. :)

Haha, there is definitely no mention of cleaning up after the dogs anywhere in the book. Oh, Sweet Valley. Not even the dogs poop.

i say bargain :P
i actually read this book the other day, it was nice to have a change of no mean unicorns, i think they do appear for a moment tho.

i think the perm one is jessica's no angel, where she wishes liz can only tell the truth & lila & jessica get ugly perms.
i don't know if anyone has recapped it?

So weird, I was thinking about this book the other day, and I wished somebody would do it in this comm. It wasn't particularly any good (LOL), but I've only read a handful of SVT, so this one was def unforgettable.

I found an ugly copy of the cover. :p

Thanks! My copy of the book has this same picture, but is the more traditional "circle cover" version.
