It's been likes, aaaggggeeeesss since I posted a review, but I'm back (I heard that groan of despair from the back row, ahem, shush back there)! I've been v v busy with RL crap, unfortunately (and exposing my soul for the chance of a tote bag; that made me hide in my bedroom for at least an hour, lol). I've picked a SVT book from random from my ( Read more... )

Thanks! This was a great recap, too! And no, I don't think Dylan McKay ever returned. This book was only a little before 90210, so maybe the ghosties intentionally left him out after 1990 when the more famous Dylan came along.:-)

I always thought the kids in this book sounded especially ... un-kid likw ("knock your block off"? "that McKay boy?")

Yeah I totally agree - in full quote Tom says, '"I could just knock your block off," Tom blustered, but Elizabeth noticed he looked more worried than angry.' He doesn't even threaten to tell their parents - Jessica would have soooo much blackmail ammunition if it was Steven, lol!

i know that they didnt begin SVT until after they were already writing SVH, maybe the GayTom book had already been writen and the ghostie put in GayTom-ness for fun?

Oh, that would be funny. I can picture Francine Pascal: "Stop the presses, Sweet Valley Twins ghostwriters! We just made Tom McKay gay, so gay him up! NOW!

Yeah :-) actually, that might make sense although this is one of the earliest SVT books and didn't he go gay in one of the later SVH ones? Which book did he 'come out' in?

Nope. According to Amazon, this book came out 1988 (wow, I wasn't even born). Gay Tom came out (ha) 1991.

They still could've chosen him as the token gay guy, based on his behaviour in the twins book =)

Great recap! For just a second when I saw the title, I thought it said "Second Base." But then I realized it was Elizabeth on the cover and knew that would never happen...

I suppose he's not too bad - I only got this book and read it for the first time a couple months ago and I think 21 is too old to be crushing on 12 year olds but I can see how, from a child's POV...
