Sweet Valley High #51: Against the Odds

So, here’s the thing. My husband (HEE! We’ve been married seven months but I still can’t hear that without cracking up) is at poker for the next four hours or so. What’s a girl supposed to do?

Well, I guess she’s supposed to either go out clubbing or recap an SVH book. So there.

I did a little bit of maths today, out of total boredom or because I love this comm, take your pick.
In the entire Sweet Valley series form Sweet Valley Kids to the Elizabeth series, there are 606 books. I think about 306 have been recapped so far. That doesn't include the doubles. Not a bad effort.
I seriously need to get a life.

We do learn, though, that Ronnie has a bookie named Big Al, who is all into high school sports. Not at all pathetic. That’s where the big money is, of course.

This is why Nathan Scott should have been forced to read this book. Since he's about as intelligent as the average SVH boytoy.

As long as he shaves. Otherwise, he looks scary. Very, very scary. But he outshines his brother by a long mile. *nods*

Oh, man. Now I want to see a crossover of OTH landing SV, kinda like the Honey Grove episode.

Oh god a crossover would be TOO good. Jess v Brooke is a showdown I am dying to see!

The a’s and the hearts and you know exactly what I mean, because we are all 24-30 years old.

It's funny because it's true. :D I pictured it instantly. I will be able to identify any given one of those girls' handwriting on sight and/or description until the day I DIE.

You know what I picked up from the Sea City books? Signing my name preceded by two dashes. It was a conscious decision made when I got my first e-mail account at like fourteen and I do it TO THIS DAY.

My husband (HEE! We’ve been married seven months but I still can’t hear that without cracking up)

It took me ages to be able to say the word "husband" normally after I got married because it freaked me out so much.

Great recap! Who bets on high school games anyway?

Wait, what? Seriously? How does he die?

Great recap!

Yeah, Ronnie bites the big one in the Quake. Because he wasn't tragically artistic and was a scummy evil gambler, he didn't get memorialized.

Fabulous recap!!! And I've been married almost a year and husband still makes me feel like an old lady for some reason. It's not as bad as "fiancee," though. I laughed for the first month when I introduced him like that. He didn't think it was funny, though.
