Oh hurrah, you've got it done and posted it! How fantastic!

I love how you built this up - it starts out so mundane with the break-up, with the added effect of Alex being such a con/player. And the obvious fact that Alex wouldn't intially be aware or understand what was happening. The zombies were terrifying in that they managed to creep up on everyone all at once. The random guy in the street, the one on the bus. Poor Angela, working at the hospital trying to help people. And Alex... kinda feel sorry for the guy, I mean, he's not a pillar of chivalry, but death by zombie ex-girlfriend is not something you wish on a person.

Great job for both you and Adam!

We did!! I have had so much fun with this story! Alex has been quite a character for me - I really just love him to bits!

I figure that the zombie apocalypse, when/if it ever happens, is going to go down like this. It's not going to be this big highly publicised affair - it's going to start so mundane that no one really knows what's happening.

Yeah, Alex wasn't happy about that turn of events at all! I had to fight him to get him back to that apartment. He sat down, dug his heels in and said "No. I don't wanna and you can't make me!" We finally came to an agreement *g*

Oh, wow! I wasn't expecting that ending, but it worked really well, and lent a fabulously dark tone to the story. I love how contained this is, and yet how it harks out to a much wider narrative at the same time, a sort of microcosm. A very enjoyable read.

Heh, characters with minds of their own are a bane and a wonder. There was such a punch to the end of this, as I honestly did not expect Alex to end up dead, but I'm a sucker for dark twists.

Aren't they though? Alex developed his own little personality and just moved right into my head! He's not a bad roommate though, really :)

I didn't want to kill ALex but I figured that was the easiest way to go about ending the story. Angela is the one who really threw me - I didn't intend for her to kick Alex out. O_o
