And: What normal morals/rules/guidelines go out the window with your fics (or fans lol)?

Okay, so backstory on this is I'm writing a Jurassic Park/Harry Potter crossover which is weird enough on its own, but it's working and my readers are like so massively into this story it's tripping me out.  But, I can not begin to tell you how many people ( Read more... )

I can't think of any moments in my own work, but there's a series of books by Debra Webb - the Faces of Evil series. The bad guy/serial killer, Eric Spears, is this charming, handsome, multi-millionaire and every time he slips through Jess' fingers (she's a detective trying to solve the case), I cheer for him. He's a bit obsessed with her and it's all so intense that I want more, more, more.

More seriously though, I let things go in fiction. In real life, I'd be CATCH HIM ALREADY! But knowing that The Player isn't going to actually murder anyone, the chase can go on and on in the books. :)

if i really think about it, there's a lot of shows/movies where the characters are vigilantes or morally grey and irl it would be like, you know, that's maybe not the best idea, but since it's fiction, full steam ahead! lol

Oh yeah, and in cop shows sometimes when they're supposed to be stepping back because it's a conflict of interest and/or they shouldn't be investigating their own crime, etc - it always makes me wonder if it's like that in RL in the USA (as most shows like this are from there), but I guess it's probably not - and you just know they could be in such trouble if it was RL! ;-)

oh our crime shows are completely ridiculous as far as i know lol, and then there's the ridiculous hallmark movies that are always funny. and i used to read a few of the themed murder mystery series and it's like "here our plucky heroine stumbles into a murder investigation and solves the case" never mind the whole corrupting evidence, inadmissable evidence, interfering with an ongoing investigation... lol
