Poor Sam! Brilliant writing, though! :)

Ooh, I loved Sam's obliviousness in relationships, and this line: the man he wants to be, sometimes, so if he can’t be him, he’ll settle for being with him because YES and also his subconscious mirroring, also because YES, and the way the weather reflects Sam's moods. And it was creepy and deeply appropriate at the end how without that connection with Gene, the worlds fades back to the boring, meaningless, predictable present.
Of course, I'm also horribly depressed. ;)

SCORE!
;) The weather was informed by the line in the song that goes, "I need your loving, like the sunshine". I thought, if he hasn't got loving, he probably hasn't got sunshine either.
Thank you!

Thanks Andy.
Sick, Andy. SICK.

I also loved the part about the spoons; it feels very real that he would start to think about little things such as spoons when the big picture starts to fade away.
Sam is meaningless when he doesn't have that other person there to feel anything for him; Gene represents feelings and Sam has learnt through him that without feelings he is nothing. You've managed to say all that without actually saying it, and that's why I think this is really clever! ;)

It really wasn't effortless, but this sentiment is wonderful in ways I can't articulate. When you've spent ten minutes rearranging a sentence, to have someone say it appears effortless is a grand compliment.
Thank you :D

Done.
Loz, that was painful and heartbreaking and you have this way of twisting words in just the right way. The way that Sam thought he couldn't bear not to feel but finds that he can't bear to feel and the way that is inextricably linked with where he is in time. That everyone loses. Not just Sam. Everyone is dampened and flattened out. Just, ouch.

Thanks :D It was my first attempt to write something that ended on a sour note. I didn't want to, you know, I kept saying, 'maybe I could reset to---', but it had to be done.
