Mighty Morphin Jonathan Papelbon, and then some

Mar 17, 2008 10:46

There's a good article on Okaji this morning on the Globe's website. I adore Okaji, so this was nice to read. Just one or two things...

Okajima's rookie season with the Sox was a success, but it also involved a steep learning curve. Nobody could prepare Okajima or Daisuke Matsuzaka for the enormous culture shock that awaited them. There were too ( Read more... )

There seriously need to be more players like Lowell in MLB. The dude defines class and is one hell of a player to boot.

Dice & Lester in Japan? Love it. Eight days left...

Definitely. I was so thrilled to read that comment on salaries - it's so nice to see that some of the athletes acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, they're being overpaid.

Yeah - I approve, too. Those two starting the games that count is probably the best scenario we could have at the moment, considering the current Josh-less state of the rotation. (I also like Clay and Wake getting the exhibition starts - that must be an awesome experience.)

As we all know, Lowell is awesome times a billion.

Also I think Papelbon would be a pirate along with the other bullpen guys. Though I did have a funny ass mental imagery of the bullpen as the Power Rangers. Papelbon would be the Green Ranger(remember there were like two leaders: the red and the green ranger) Timlin would be the red ranger. Okajimer would be yellow, Snyder would be pink(because he's pretty), Delcarmen would be the black ranger and then Lopez would be the blue...or something like that.

Okay, that is just positively epic. I just got this mental image of them fighting those people in the monster costumes with all the corny moves and whatnot (they could even take on opposing mascots if they felt like it). And Jonathan has to drive the Megazord.

(I'd put Sentai Jonathan second on my list of "Things Jonathan Papelbon Must Do In Japan," but it loses out to playing Human Tetris.)

I have a feeling that if Jonathan drove the Megazord, it would not end well. which is why it's so awesome.

Yeah Papelbon doing Human Tetris is better. he'd fail so hard at it and it'd be awesome. I think that probably Lugo, Jacoby, or Coco would do best with it.

They do have the 'diving outfielder' template in one of the videos, actually, and every time I see it I think of Jacoby and Coco and know they'd be able to time it right.

However, I totally want to see Papelbon and Manny as a team on this show, just for the humor content. Watching Manny dive through holes, dreadlocks flying, whilst wearing a jumpsuit would be high comedic art.

Onw of the things I'm expecting from the Japan trip is for Papelbon to want to go to Tokyo Tower because he saw in a book that you can go to another world from there.

Also, if you ever finish all the other stuff you gotta draw, there was a cute little blurb in the Globe the other day about how Tek keeps putting on the wrong uniform and Timlin had to remind him which one to wear. So mebbie once all the important stuff is out of the way there's an idea?

I would totally love it if Jonathan outed himself as a total otaku at some point on this trip. Then again, he was confused about McDonalds, so maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Sure, I'll add that to the list! It sounds adorable! (It also gives me an opportunity to draw Timlin's fabled camo glove, too...)

Otaku!Paps. That would be the greatest thing ever.

Yayy! I just keep imagining everyone standing around in their red unis and then Tek comes out in all his gear wearing a blue uni and is like "KAY GUYZ, BASEBALL TIEM" while everyone else is just *faceglove*. Or Timlin laying out his clothes for him like he's five. Tek has gotten so weird this spring; I really think someone's slipping him happy pills...

I would do this myself, but I can't even sorta draw, so it would make my life if someone else did it. :D

I'd die if he cosplayed someone. (One of the pictures on my agenda is several players as the Sailor Senshi - and I'm totally including Jonathan.)

I know! I'm totally not complaining, because it's amusing, but it's definitely weird. (Did you see the clip of him trying to get his ring size using his toe instead of his finger?)
