[thump thump thump thump... footsteps up stairs? That's what it sounds like, along with some gentle rattling, the soft clink of metal pieces hitting each other softly.

There's a quiet creak... the sound of a door opening... Everything in fact seems to have gone perfectly, and utterly silent...]
