Oh, well.
It's a disc that saves videos and with a DVD player you can watch them on big screen. Mostly used for movies, meaning ... theater ... on screen.

And then you have a screen, like the one on the LP, that will show the video recorded on the DVD.

This thing records what you're doing right? So basically a DVD is a disc with videos on it. Often of people who were acting, so it's like theatre, just in better quality. And on a screen.
A CD only records voice and is usually used for music.
