[things have been quiet lately. He should enjoy it, but it's in his nature to fuss. He's the overseer, the protector. It's only when he fails should Sora have to be called on

[He should have expected this. And in fact, he'd been entirely prepared for this possibility. Instead of simply turning on Riku, he seeks out any means of slipping past the walls being constructed--even better if they end up between him and the Journal's avatar. He's smart, and even though he's fairly certain he can win a battle against Riku, he doesn't want his escape to slip out of reach. That is something he can't afford to pass up.]
