"Maybe." Roxas is exhausted, but alert. The moment they're in the hotel room, he's blocking the doors with furniture around the place, shutting the blinds and rifling through the draws. There's not much in there- not really. Some old nightgowns, a pair of jeans that's going to be much too big for the both of them, a shirt of the same size- and a bible. Roxas sneers at the latter, tossing it aside and quickly stripping off his clothes
( ... )
"We'll burn mine tomorrow. He'll probably think we went off early to scout or something. We've done that before. This way, I can go clothes shopping tomorrow for us."
It's a simple explanation, though he does strip down and change into the nightgown, tossing his clothes off to the side. They have an advantage of at least a day to change and assume new identities. Daddy won't take well to their running away, after all, and when the Islands don't fall... Hopefully he doesn't come after them himself.
"After the clothes shopping, we might have to skip worlds. He's going to track us here, once we've been gone for too long."
It's depressing to think about. Even if there had been something about Ansem, a shadow that stemmed Roxas' affection before it could fully bloom and diverting that love and commitment to his brother instead, the idea of being hunted at all wasn't comfortable. But they'd known, when they'd made their choice, that this was how it was going to be.
They'd learn to fend for themselves.
"...I'm glad we left, Sora." And he is. This sudden freedom is something to relish- no missions, no demands for them to cause devastation. No having to watch his brother slaughter others for the mere fact that he was told to. It was terrifying, but it was like breathing fresh air again for the first time in years.
Sora nods when Roxas says they'll have to leave the world. They'll have to skip quite a few, and pretty fast, just to leave behind a confusing enough trail. Perhaps backtrack a few times just to make it even more confusing. Still, he sighs and then pats the bed for Roxas. Sora, at least, is really tired. And they need as much sleep as they can get right now.
"...Me, too. It feels... Nice. Freedom. Without Dad breathing down our necks."
