The briefing room doors hissed open, letting Bones, Uhura and the science officers out. The sound of his friend’s voice, speaking in his idiosyncratic Georgian manner, trying to reassure Uhura and convince her to “get some shut-eye” faded as the door closed with a decisive hiss-click.

Did I get that impression?? O_O hope not, as I was kinda going for - they fully acknowledged their feelings for each other, but am being mature and holding off so they can get proper rest/not be too distracted blah blah for the mission

AHHH lol OK well then you can answer a question for me - I don't think this story, which is more novel-like, is suitable to have graphic smut, so I'm thinking fade-to-black
Realistically does smut fit into the rest of the story?

Things are heating up! Nero is going crazy, Spock and Kirk are making out, and yay! for the young!spock comforting young!jim!

I love little kirk and little Spock. Aw, they're jealous of their older counterparts...so cute! Can't wait to see what goes on with them.
And their older counterparts are getting all hot and heavy...without getting much of anywhere. Sad for them. I say, celebratory sex after the battle is won and Nero is gone!

Well there's definitely going to be celebratory making out that's for sure... re smut - does that belong in this kind of novel-like storytelling? [serious question, really what do you think??] Cos currently I'm leading towards fade to black or err, non-graphic

Hot damn, this is good. I fell in love with this chapter during the young one's bedroom scene, but then it just got so much better! Excellent work.
